The document palettes will be saved with the document, but you must reselect the palette in the swatches panel every time you load up. At the moment the Affinity products don't bring back the selected document palettes but I'm looking to improve on this soon. Sorry for the inconvenience in the meantime.

This is fixed in the latest beta now, will be release sometime this week I think. :)

Can you please try to launch it with Symantec disabled? I believe that's Symantec that's causing this issue.

Welcome to Affinity Forums :)
You should be able to open files created in Designer 1.5 on Windows on your Mac (Designer 1.5 Beta) without issues.
Can you please upload the file you have created on Windows so we can check what's going wrong? You can PM me a link to the file or use this link to send it directly to me.

EDITED TO ADD: I have just (at 4pm BST) uploaded a new version of Beta 14 that will continue to run if you upgrade to Affinity 1.4.3 which is due to be released on 20th September in order to provide better compatibility with macOS Sierra. It is identical to the earlier download in all other respects. If you are not receiving a warning that there is a newer version then you already have this most recent version.
 
This means you still have the original Beta 14 installed not the one updated my MattP a couple hours later.

There won't be any massive changes to Designer from now on. No new features nor major UI changes, just mainly bug fixes as we get it to a stable state for release in the near future. If you are lucky, I think Andy is releasing a new build of Photo later today with some fancy things in it...

Out of interest, what advantages does it have over YouTube or Vimeo? I'm surprise its on there. Twitch TV is primarily used for Games - mainly live streaming and E-Sport. Creative work and tutorials is the last place I would expect that site to have. If you take a look at Twitch about page, their first line is:
 
'Twitch is the world’s leading social video platform and community for gamers.'
 
I would expect these contents to be available on Vimeo and YouTube though, not Twitch.
