No news but a recommendation …
Instead working in scale 1:1 with that large page dimension you could work in scale 1:10 (or any preferred scale) and increase the document DPI accordingly. This will display the gutter between the spreads:

… or a workaround: Set an accordingly large bleed for the bottom edge of the pages during layout (change it as required for export). The bleed will be added on screen as vertical space between the spreads:

Updating Windows may have updated GPU drivers, which can introduce bugs to the drivers, which then cause problems for the applications that use them in a way that exposes the bug.

    Hi everyone,
For windows the solution was found - one need to set registry key:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Serif\Affinity\Photo\1] "No Update Check"=dword:00000001 Can also be set via MSI property "NO_UPDATE_CHECK_PROPERTY" by assigning the value of "#1".
But there is no obvious solution for osx...
In the previous message there was an info about "network install tool" but I can't find any information about it...
Is there is any universal solution for Win and Mac to disable update notification availabe in 1.6.x now?
    Thanks in advance.

You might try opening the application Preferences (Edit > Preferences), clicking on Performance, and disabling Hardware Acceleration (OpenCL) if it is active. Then Restart the application and see if that helps.

It would be extremely convenient to have Grammarly or Ginger working in Publisher.

Totally slowed me down. Had to switch to Illustrator to meet deadlines. Problem solved.
Text resizing should be fast and doesn't have to rely on specific handles or non-essential/gimmicky mechanisms.

Great initiative 👍 I wish Affinity's developer would somehow realize to redesign the swatches panel to organize the colors by group.

I can't find any option to set a specific distance between spreads.
It is extremely difficult for me to preview my work and since the platform to where I am going to publish it has this feature, it's really hard to design and set proper margins, arrange design elements with the pacing I want, to achieve good continuity.

I see Affinity Publisher has a spell check... but how can I grammar check? Is there an App? and Add-on? a plugin? Does "Grammarly" work within Affinity Publisher? Or is there another third party App that can help?
I have searched high and low on these forums, and the tutorials by Serif and Google searches to find the answer but not coming up with much except pasting the text into an external App.
I have a 300 page book divided into 17 chapters i.e. lots of individual text frames, so I'm not really that keen to copy and paste the text somewhere else to grammar check it then paste it back into each frame again. I also don't want to risk piracy or compromising confidential information by pasting the text into an external App that operates on a website somewhere.
I'm on a Mac desktop if that makes any difference.

You can't drag files directly to the Layers panel but you can drag them on top of an existing image/document and they will appear as separate layers
Alternatively, you can use File > New Stack then ungroup the stack once it completes

@Elise Kleve Create a document the size you want and then drag the files onto that document.

So what's the point of answering and quoting what I said and pointing out anything about anything?
What's the problem? You can own CS apps forever that are more functional than the updated versions of Affinity apps, LOL. Stop pointing out anything that is correct.
And I decide what I want with my own money. Everything you said does not help me decide which software to buy. LOL.
I came here for information on Affinity version 2.0. Whether I would buy it or not.

(First some explanation and conjecture. A suggestion for a better method for you to consider, for now, comes at the end.)
When Photo 1.7 and Designer 1.7 are released (out of beta) then you probably won't need to use File > Edit in Photo (or Edit in Designer) any more, because you'll be able to use the Photo and Designer Personas directly in Publisher.
In the meantime, the next beta release of Publisher may restore the ability for Publisher to open Photo beta documents, which will make Edit in Photo usable again.
Update: Yes, Publisher 1.7.0.238 for Windows can now handle .afphoto files created by the latest Windows beta of Photo (1.7.0.231).
The best model we have today for using Edit in Photo and Edit in Designer comes from Designer and Photo. There, if you're in Designer and need to use Photo, you choose Edit in Photo. At that point the document is closed in Designer and reopens in Photo. When you're done with it in Photo, you choose Edit in Designer. Photo then closes the document and you're back in Designer with the changed file. However, that model can't work (today) with Publisher because neither Photo nor Designer have an Edit in Publisher function, which makes it harder to get back to Publisher from either application.
I think we'll just have to wait for later in the 1.7 betas to see how all this will really work; we can only make educated guesses at this point.
For now, you're perhaps better off with this workflow:
Create/edit your .afphoto file in Photo (1.6, until Publisher can again handle Photo 1.7 files). File > Place it into your .afpub file as a Linked (not Embedded) object. And make sure that your Publisher Preferences are set to automatically update linked objects when they are changed. When you discover the need to make a change to the .afphoto file, just Open it and edit it in Photo (1.6, for now), and save it. Publisher should automatically update the version in your .afpub file. (Note that there may be a bug currently that prevents the automatic update of linked Affinity documents, so perhaps it would be better to Export from Photo as a TIFF, and Place/Link the TIFF in your .afpub file. That would also allow use of Photo 1.7 for the editing.)

I agree with the above – buy the affinity suite if it works for you. Nothing more needs to be said. I don't understand why making such a discussion out of it and all that philosophical debate is necessary. It fills the forums.
I jumped in because I've been receiving email notifications from this thread more than 8 times today. Muting them now.

Serif have given no hints of when 2.0 might arrive, what it might contain, or what it might cost. 2.0 could be the next major release after 1.9, or (after possibly seeing 1.9.3, 1.9.4, etc.) we could see 1.10, 1.11, etc. and then we might not see 2.0 for several years.
All anyone can say right now is buy Affinity products if they do enough right now to let you do your work (or if you simply want to support the company) and don't buy them if they don't have enough functions for you.

Since version 2.0 is not here and there are no details of the features it would have are available, you cannot make an informed choice until such time as a trial version of version 2.0 is released and you actually try it out to see if it fits your workflow, so the question is pretty much redundant until that time.

The boxed versions of the Creative Suite stopped at CS6. Until then you could buy and own Adobe programs. Since then it is pay or die. We are now at version 14. Means it has been software as a service for more versions than it was software to own. Adobe has become sort of an industry standard over the years and they shamelessly exploit their monopoly. Want to use the creative suite? Sure! 670 bucks a year and nothing to keep once you stop paying...

I still have a CS5.5 boxed version, but I did never regret having expanded into the Affinity universe. Comparing the price with what you get this is true bargain. Rocksolid tools to work with. And because this approach is very fair, they will have my support on 2.0 an beyond as well.

I totally agree. I've spent over 20 years with Adobe products, mainly Illustrator. I bought all 3 of Affinity's products and will continue to support them. I just hope they make changes soon to not only keep up with Adobe, but surpass them. Subscription fees, who needs that? 😃

Thank you for this information and it's handy in some cases but this workaround would significantly slow me down.
I type my content on a separate app for grammar and spell checking before pasting it to publisher and I want an Illustrator-like eyedropper tool to reduce the number of steps to accomplish this task.

I agree. I work on brand guidelines a lot and without an eyedropper tool for copying text and object style is a drag. Time is money and this tool should be implemented before version 2.

Hello, I would like to know if this issue regarding a similar tool to Adobe Illustrator's eyedropper tool is being addressed. I find that the workaround is quite time consuming. Thank you for your attention to this matter and I hope to hear back from you soon.
