Phillipp got a reaction from Winni1304 in Kattegat Great Hall (from VIKINGS tv show) - Isometric Design
Hey,
this is the first time I used an actual image as an example and tried to recreate it in isometric style. You can see the outcome in the video thumbnail. I also embedded the example for comparison.
It was quite challenging, especially the wooden planks. It's the first time I work with gradients and the wood look had me struggle for quite a while. The video shows my full process, including trial and error on the gradients.
I won't consider it "done" yet as there are definitely some things to improve, like the roof where I had no idea what to add as details. I thought about doing the same wooden plank gradients in an interesting pattern but I guess that would be too much.
Overall, it looks more like an asset from an old browsergame. It doesn't have this special isometric art style. I think it's because of the muted colors and too much detail. If I would redo it some day, I would try to use brighter colors (exploring more orang'ey for the wood) and have less small details.
What do you think? I would be happy for feedback and some tips.

Looks great to me!
i tried isometric a while back, couldn’t get it right. But I got some helpful hints from your video, I might try again

Phillipp got a reaction from affinity4Christ15 in Windmill - Isometric Design
Hey,
while I was looking for new practice projects, I found a little windmill which I recreated.
For me as a beginner, it was quite hard to deal with the colors, especially in the shade.
For the speedart video itself, I prepared a color palette so I don't have to find the colors again.

Phillipp reacted to VectorWhiz in Range Rover Evoque - vector drawing
One of the most beautiful car designs of modern times. 100% vector drawing. Work in progress. Used lots of custom gradients and transparencies. Also Gaussian blurring and 3D effects.

Phillipp reacted to emmaliveson in Red Barn - Isometric Design
Hello Philipp! Wonderful video. I commented on your YouTube video. I hope you see it. Great use of plains and artboards. Thank you for showing that to me. I am switching from Adobe to purely using Affinity and it is amazing how much Affinity can do. Great video!

I like it, when person A proposes person B, how he should spend his money in order to satisfy person A.

Phillipp got a reaction from mpowell in Red Barn - Isometric Design
Since a few people have seen it already, I would like to ask for some feedback, especially about the video itself.
I am planning to do more such videos (so feel free to subscribe, lol ) and obviously want to improve them as well.
How is the video speed? It's about 36 minutes of work and I made it 5x faster for this.
How is the music? I find it really hard to get free royalty free music that is long enough and fits the theme. Any recommendations?
Anything else that could be improved/added/etc?
I am very glad for any feedback!

Hey,
I just started out with vector design, especially isometric vector design. This is one of my practice projects. It was quite fun figuring out how to do it. I decided that it makes sense to use the "Symbols" feature in Affinity Designer so I can create each side in 2D.

Phillipp got a reaction from Ronbo in How to rotate canvas in Affinity Photo on desctop PC
I would also love to be able to rotate the canvas freely with some key modifier + pen movement.
Is this already on a roadmap somewhere and if not, what do we have to do in order for the Affinity team to evaluate this?

Phillipp reacted to Larryh in Add Nodes & Handles interaction tool (Curvature tool)
I have explained the tool idea (And provide examples) in this other topic:
A tool that makes the handles interact with the nodes, the handles change depending of the node movement
___
Could be an upgrade to the current node tool, as a setting for the way the node tool manage the handles:
Example:
(Second Image is a zoom for the image above)
_
Or be a completely new tool instead
