evtonic3 Posted July 18, 2019 Posted July 18, 2019 This has been happening for a while when I have to stamp, is this a bug? Stamp Bug.mov Quote
Old Bruce Posted July 18, 2019 Posted July 18, 2019 It looks like it is being hampered by tiling. Is it only on Unsplash pics or does it happen with anything else? I have never mastered color management, period, so I cannot help with that.
evtonic3 Posted July 19, 2019 Author Posted July 19, 2019 It looks like its an isolated incident on my work computer only!! iMac Pro. My old Mac Pro at home does not have this issue. Quote

On the one that works which is mine from home is an older 2009 Mac Pro with Open GL? I wanna say. The one that doesn't work well from the video is the iMac Pro from work and here is a screenshot of the settings: Quote
Staff Chris B Posted July 19, 2019 Staff Posted July 19, 2019 In which case, can you try turning off Metal compute and if that doesn't work—switch to OpenGL to see if that makes a difference. Quote How to format a bug report | Learning Resources | List of V2 FAQs | YouTube Tutorials
evtonic3 Posted July 19, 2019 Author Posted July 19, 2019 That did the trick, although I feel that this fairly new iMac Pro is not using its capabilities or is this okay to use OpenGL? Quote

I think typically we would suggest using Metal over OpenGL but disable Metal compute. The Display setting is used to draw the content on the screen. Metal compute will speed up things like filters. I've found Metal compute is very dependant on what GPU you are using and how much vram is available. Quote How to format a bug report | Learning Resources | List of V2 FAQs | YouTube Tutorials
srg Posted July 27, 2019 Posted July 27, 2019 I just read this thread and I have similar problems with the stamp tool. At times it work on tiles and in a non continuous way. Quote
Staff MEB Posted July 29, 2019 Staff Posted July 29, 2019 I've also experienced this a few times with a couple images I've been working recently. I will keep an eye on this to see if I can reproduce it consistently. Quote A Guide to Learning Affinity Software
PeppermintNinja Posted August 6, 2019 Posted August 6, 2019 Just chiming in to confirm that I've been seeing this bug since the release of 1.7 as well, and turning off Metal Compute eliminates it. Curiously, it seems RAW import is slightly faster with Metal Compute off. Using 50MB uncompressed Fuji raws, some quick testing shows affinity loading 0.5 to 1 second faster. ~5 seconds vs. ~5.75 seconds. That's just rough testing with a stopwatch, but still interesting. It appears version 1.7.2 fixes the tiling with Metal Compute. Haven't tested RAW import, but that's probably best saved for another thread anyway. Quote
