How do you blend two colors to make it look gradient-ish

Recommended Posts

A lot can be done w. transparency control and blend modes. But from the 2 samples in the 1st post, I'm having trouble trying to figure out exactly what you want to do.

Care to offer any shots of quick trials? Or something like you are aiming to do?

@Lightning Phoenix, one other example I can show you where "blending" is done with vectors ...is in Inkscape. If you look at it you can watch how he is doing the layering. I always thought it was remarkable that one could get these kind of effects with a vector program.

The complete svg file is located here.

and the video is here..Hope this helps!

@gdenby So these pictures may make it harder to follow, but basically what I want is basically a smooth gradient between two colors, which in probably most of my cases would be used for shading. Basically, I want to make the darker shade as the shading and use some tool to be able to smooth the transition between colors to make it look natural.

@PixelPest So if you look in my third picture (the odd one out) wouldn't getting the gradient tool make it hard to control if I had the curve all the way around the head?

Sorry if I'm seeming stubborn, it isn't really my intention. I basically have no experience in drawing/vector drawings, so I may be missing vital information or techniques

If you open the SVG in Affinity Designer, you can see that there are 823 separate vector objects in the file, & a great many of them have Gaussian blurs applied to them so they blend with soft edges into layers below them.
