How to Hide [or toggle] Selection - WITHOUT deleting it?

Recommended Posts

Hi all!

Is there a keyboard shortcut to hide your Selection - WITHOUT deleting it?  It was invaluable to me in Photoshop so i can do fine pixel movements of something and actually see where it is, instead of the moving selection outlines or in Affinity's case; those + the blue outlines.

thanks!

I'm not at my computer right now, but a vague memory suggests that Ctrl+H (Cmd+H on Mac) will hide the marching ants, if that helps.

Look on the Select menu, which may have the menu entry for it.

There isn't a shortcut by default, but you can assign one yourself - Edit / Preferences / Keyboard Shortcuts

Is that a demonstration of how to do it or is <ctrl>; the default on your PC?

That's the way on how to it. You may enter your own key strokes

As far as I can remember there is a small difference between AP and Photoshop. The hidden state in Photoshop affected only the current  selection - i.e. when I hid the selection and then I made another selection it was immediately visible. The state of selection in AP is global so if you hide the selection and then make a new selection you don't see it until you change the settings back.

It makes sense but I think the Adobe way is a bit more practical.
