DM1
After selecting Clone tool, long pressing with pencil brings up viewer loupe but no crosshair visible and no clone point selected. Staff Chris B Posted May 29, 2019 Staff Share Posted May 29, 2019 Hey DM1, I believe this is by design. We require you to pick a source with your finger as opposed to the Apple Pencil. This is because the Apple Pencil is so sensitive and would require such a big tolerance that it would lag the start of a brush stroke. DM1
@Chris B Ok, I can understand that. In that case the loupe should not display when touch for Gestures is on and pen is pressed while Clone is selected. It looks like it is selecting but it isn’t. DM1
Bump. The eyeglass loupe still appearing in RC2 when pressing with pencil (which is unnecessary as it doesn’t do anything). DM1
Bump. Loupe still appearing when long press pencil. I think the loupe appears so you can see where you are painting without the Apple Pencil obstructing the view for accuracy purposes. I don't mind it but I agree it could be confusing if you don't know that the Apple Pencil cannot pick a source. Then again, you do get a message saying 'You must press and hold to set a source before trying to clone', which to me suggests you need to use your finger. Thanks Chris, As I mainly use the pencil I assumed press and hold appearing when I pressed the pencil on screen, meant press and hold the pencil. Clearly this is going to cause some confusion/angst in the wider community once the update is released. Maybe a switch in settings to turn the loupe preview on or off. The pencil doesn’t really obstruct work to any great degree. I suspect leaving the loupe active will, in the long term, cause more issues with users than simply removing it when pencil is used (Touch for Gestures active). Time will tell. Staff Andy Somerfield Posted May 31, 2019 Staff Share Posted May 31, 2019 The truth of this is that we have changed our minds about what should show / when we should show the loupe numerous times, finally decided, then forgot to implement what we decided everywhere. In this situation, the loupe should show when a finger is being used to select a source, but not when using the pencil to actually clone. Thanks, A Patrick Connor, Paul Mudditt and DM1 1
