That is my guess, yes. However, it is likely that there will be a reduced price initially for all purchasers, or sales events that will reduce the price. Prices for version 2 have not yet been set, but please keep in mind that they have promised that everything on the current 1.x version public roadmaps will be implemented via free 1.x version updates before they begin working on v2 version release candidates. Considering that they have already added requested features not on the public roadmaps to the 1.7 betas, & that it could be months before the 1.7 versions make it out of beta, it probably will be at least a year from now before there are any 2.0 betas & probably more like 2-3 years before there are any retail versions for sale, if not longer. As Walt mentioned, in the past they have for a few weeks or so offered discounts (typically 20% off) when a new app is released, & sometimes done the same to celebrate some event or milestone like the one year anniversary of a new product, when Designer was featured in Apple's MacBook Pro event back in 2016, or last year's Christmas sale that offered 20% off everything in the Affinity Store. So considering that the Affinity products are relatively inexpensive to begin with, & even if you want the 2.0 versions & somehow miss all the sales when they are finally released, the non-discount prices should still offer very good value. Of course, if at that time you don't think they do, you can buy something else that you think is a better value. Given the strong hints that there will be a version 1.8 and probably at least one more update after that, it seems highly unlikely that version 2.0 beta is as little as a year away. 9 minutes ago, R C-R said: As Walt mentioned, in the past they have for a few weeks or so offered discounts (typically 20% off) when a new app is released, & sometimes done the same to celebrate some event or milestone like the one year anniversary of a new product, when Designer was featured in Apple's MacBook Pro event back in 2016, or last year's Christmas sale that offered 20% off everything in the Affinity Store. PaulEC
What might be a nice idea, when version 2 of the three Affinity apps come out (assuming they are all released at the same time,) would be a discount for people who purchase all three of them together. Everyone who wants version 2 will have to purchase it, and can do so from whatever store they want to use that sells for their OS. It won't matter if they purchased version 1 from the same store or not. 3 hours ago, DesignT said: Hi walt.farell What you are telling is that we will not get an version 1 to vers 2 upgrade price ??!!!! Granted that Walt has already agreed, I don't see this is a logical necessity - which ever store supplied the original licence will be able to administer an upgrade discount. It's only if you choose to change store that there can't be one. Quote AP, AD & APub user, running Win10

There could be a 4th app by then, the Affinity DAM, whatever it might be named. But regardless of that, the 20% or whatever per app discounts should be more than enough to justify purchasing upgrades to those who want whatever new features & refinements the new 2.x versions offer. It's only if you choose to change store that there can't be one. Unless things have changed by then, there won't be discounts available for MAS purchase upgrades because Apple doesn't permit that, just sales that anybody can take advantage of. There are some workarounds, like offering a free or restricted function version of an app through the MAS & an 'in-app' purchase to unlock the full feature set, but let's be realistic about this -- even without a discount, the 2.x versions will stand or fall on the value per dollar (or Pound or whatever) they offer compared to competing products, just like with the 1.x versions. So, considering that in all likelihood it will be at least a few years before any 2.x versions are available for purchase, & that the competition also will be vying for our money at that time, it seems a bit pointless to worry about upgrade pricing now.
