Kheewz Posted January 18, 2019 Posted January 18, 2019 Is there any faster way to rename layers or do I really have to click in each and everyone and type? Even a *rename* *press tab* *rename next* would do, as Photoshop. Thanks! AlessioFB, johnnydfred, VRB and 1 other 3 1 Quote
Staff Callum Posted January 18, 2019 Staff Posted January 18, 2019 Hi Kheewz, This is the fastest way I'm afraid. However I will move this thread to the Feature Requests section as this would make a good addition to the app. Thanks Callum johnnydfred, Kheewz, ianrb and 1 other 3 1 Quote Please tag me using @ in your reply so I can be sure to respond ASAP.
Kheewz Posted January 18, 2019 Author Posted January 18, 2019 Ok, Callum. Thanks for your response. You have no idea how I wish this gets implemented soon! Quote
Kheewz Posted January 18, 2019 Author Posted January 18, 2019 Also, still related to organizing the project, if there was a way to navigate through the layers using the up/down arrows would be amazing. For cases like this, that I have to guess which stick is in which position. Quote
carl123 Posted January 18, 2019 Posted January 18, 2019 I think... CTRL+ALT+[ and CTRL+ALT+] does that (Windows) Quote To save time I am currently using an automated AI to reply to some posts on this forum. Kheewz Posted January 18, 2019 Author Posted January 18, 2019 Didn't work, Carl. I tried every combination involving cltr+alt and [ ]. Does it work for you? Quote
carl123 Posted January 18, 2019 Posted January 18, 2019 If I have understood your requirement correctly It's the default shortcuts assigned to the menu options Select > Select Next and Select > Select Previous (They may be different on a Mac?) Kheewz Posted January 18, 2019 Author Posted January 18, 2019 In fact, there are the options. They were working when I clicked in the menu context, but not with the shortcut. I just rewrote them with the same Ctrl + Alt + [ ] and they started working. Thanks, man! Quote
Kheewz Posted January 18, 2019 Author Posted January 18, 2019 Now, a nice addition to this would be being able to open groups while navigating with the keyboard. Like up/down to navigate and left/right to open/close groups. I don't know if people use this kind of navigation, but I'm just used to it because of apps like Cinema 4D. It's really handy when you can access any layers and rename them without clicking around. Cinema 4D, actually, should be a reference for menu navigation. Quote
carl123 Posted January 19, 2019 Posted January 19, 2019 If you right-click a Group you get an option to Expand Selection (and Collapse Selection) but I do not think you can assign a keyboard shortcut to it. I believe someone requested this ability in late 2016 but you might want to post a new request for it in the "Feature Requests" section of the forum as that request may have been "missed" Quote To save time I am currently using an automated AI to reply to some posts on this forum. Kheewz Posted January 19, 2019 Author Posted January 19, 2019 Hmm, I see. Callum said he was moving this thread. Do I still need to make a new post in "Feature Requests"? Quote

It looks as though @Callum got distracted before he had a chance to move it! Let’s hope he comes back to the thread and moves it now that I’ve tagged him. cleggwd Posted May 18, 2021 Posted May 18, 2021 If this isn't already a feature request it's a little confusing to me where the feature requests are? Has this been added as a request? @Callum Thanks! Quote

This thread is in the ‘Feature Requests & Suggestions’ forum, but only because it was moved there after originally being (correctly) posted as a question in the ‘Questions’ forum.
