timetrialler Posted January 27, 2018 Posted January 27, 2018 So if I export a project as a PNG, does that PNG file contain any metadata about the author? That is, metadata. For the more technically oriented, do exported PNGs contain author data stored in the PNG in tEXt, zEXt, or iTXt chunks, to use terminology from libpng It's my desire that it doesn't, but I'm sure someone can confirm for me. I could probably check with some PNG examination tool but I'd prefer an answer from the source about Affinity Designer's PNG export behaviour. Lovin' this tool called Affinity Designer btw. John Rostron Posted January 27, 2018 Posted January 27, 2018 As I understand it, PNG files do not contain any metadata. Well, they can contain metadata, at least according to the specification for "ancillary data chunks" provided by Wikipedia. Perhaps the PNGs exported by the Affinity applications don't contain any, though John Rostron 1 Quote -- Walt Designer, Photo, and Publisher V1 and V2 at latest retail and beta releases PC: Desktop: Windows 11 Pro 23H2, 64GB memory, AMD Ryzen 9 5900 12-Core @ 3.00 GHz, NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3090 Laptop: Windows 11 Pro 23H2, 32GB memory, Intel Core i7-10750H @ 2.60GHz, Intel UHD Graphics Comet Lake GT2 and NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3070 Laptop GPU. As @walt.farrell said, they certainly can contain metadata, & some of it can include a person's name, for example in "eXIf" chunks that store Exif metadata that can include an author, artist, or copyright holder name. IanSG Posted January 28, 2018 Posted January 28, 2018 If you import the EXIF data, AD preserves it. I can't see anyway to populate the EXIF data within AD. Quote AP, AD & APub user, running Win10

When the PNG format first became popular, (many years ago), I read somewhere that it did not support Exif data. Certainly the very old PNG files I have do not have this data.
