Wiredframe
Hi all, I had this behavior before, but now I'm posting it here since the new beta is out. In some cases (don't really know when) the layers panel goes crazy and AD starts to lag:
Asser82
Here the relevant snapshot which might help. Looks like a layouting problem when there are many items to load. Wiredframe
Staff Chris B Posted January 23, 2017 Staff Share Posted January 23, 2017 Hi guys,I've seen this posted a few times. I'm not sure if it is taking time to redraw the info on the panel or if it is related to a previous fix we applied which handles long layer names and includes the scrollbar at the bottom.I've tried with some of my bigger documents and can't reproduce it. @Wiredframe does this happen with just that document in your screenshots or can you create a document from scratch with less content that displays the behaviour? Wiredframe
I guess it's happening when a document starts to have a big amount of layers and artboard (maybe 1000 layers). BTW a layer counter would be nice. As well as separating layers and artboarts to different panels (like in AI).
verysame
I reported the same issue. In my case, I had quite a few layers but not so many. It is probably a combination of several layers, a heavy document and intense process from the layers (masks, adjustments, live filters). This happened since the very first beta I tried back in November and it is still happening, both in AD & AP. Asser82
I have recorded some simple steps to reproduce something similar: https://youtu.be/FXBosYgmT0g Thx Chris for the hint with the added scrollbar. Knowing that I had only to generate a case where the panel has a a hard life to decide whether the scrollbar is needed. Your developers will hate me for that :-/ Wiredframe, Chris J and Chris B
Staff Chris B Posted January 24, 2017 Staff Share Posted January 24, 2017 Hey Asser82, your video was incredibly helpful and I've managed to reproduce this now. Thank you very much :) I'll get dev to take a look! rubs
This happens quite often after working for an about hour or more with complex designs with lots of layers. A temporary workaround: disable "show selection in layers panel" when this happens (although I'm not sure if this works every time).
