creaturerigger Posted January 19, 2017 Posted January 19, 2017 Can anyone help me how to randomize a bunch of object's position and scale for instance i wanna do a starred background with various position rotation and scale. In AI there is transform each command and you can randomize transform applied on objects. Thank you. syuilo, Rudolphus, lepr and 1 other 4 Quote
Staff MEB Posted January 19, 2017 Staff Posted January 19, 2017 Hi creaturerigger, Welcome to Affinity Forums :) Currently the only way to get a similar result in Affinity Designer is creating a brush (raster based) where you can adjust several (dynamics) properties to get the random effect you're looking for. It's NOT possible to do this with vector objects through a specific command/feature or using vector brushes. creaturerigger 1 Quote A Guide to Learning Affinity Software

I didnt think that it could b that easy but i wish i could do this with vector objects anyway thank you :D Quote
Richnou Posted November 19, 2017 Posted November 19, 2017 Hi This fonctionnality exist in Inkscape. It's will be a good idea to do it in Affinity... Select some objects > Apply random property on demand (x, y, scale...) bzkarcade 1 Quote
pixelpieper Posted October 29, 2018 Posted October 29, 2018 Hi I'd also like to have that feature in Affinity Designer. Coming from Inkscape I'm really missing this feature. Quote
X-Raym Posted May 5, 2020 Posted May 5, 2020 Having a simple window to randomize object property within a +/- value would be just awesome. - X position - Position - Scale - Rotation - Color So much could be done with this. Any hope we cant get this randomization panel ? Cheers ! Quote
X-Raym Posted May 5, 2020 Posted May 5, 2020 Here is how ti is done in illustrator, with a simple checkbox in Transform Properties: This would be so huge in affinity ! Quote
Staff MEB Posted May 5, 2020 Staff Posted May 5, 2020 Thread moved to the Feedback for Affinity Designer on Desktop section. Quote A Guide to Learning Affinity Software
X-Raym Posted May 5, 2020 Posted May 5, 2020 @MEBThanks ! Hopefully it will gain some attraction. I don't know if you saw the video but you can see how some randomization possibility even with a simple checkbox on UI side can help... a lot ! If there will be some plan on it, I'd happy join the beta program to test it. Quote
Staff MEB Posted May 5, 2020 Staff Posted May 5, 2020 Hi X-Raym, I'm aware of this feature from Illustrator too, but since you bumped up this thread (posting on it) and a few users requested it too, i moved it to the feedback section as it may get lost here. I also don't remember seeing a thread requesting this on the Feedback section (although it's possible there's one already). Our Betas are all public. You can download the latest ones from the respective sections in the Beta Software Forums area. The latest versions are usually pinned at the top. Thanks for your feedback and support. X-Raym Posted May 5, 2020 Posted May 5, 2020 @MEB Quote I also don't remember seeing a thread requesting this on the Feedback section Yep, I also search deeply on the forum but it seems the only post speaking about randomization. Though, I sw other comments (reddit, youtube comments...) expressed this desire, so there is a demand for such randomization related features (it could be illutsrator style, or done in some other ways; any way will be appreciated). Quote Thanks for your feedback and support. And thank for your consideration! I'll help as much as I can if there is things I can do for this. MEB 1 Quote
X-Raym Posted May 16, 2020 Posted May 16, 2020 I can see there is a "noise" function in field equations... noise(seed / x, y) Generate 1D noise either from a seed or based on X/Y input. Couldn't that be used to add randomness (it is equivalent to a random() function ?) ? It doesnt seem to work in transform field though. Such integration wouldn't require any GUI changes so it might be quicker to implement. EDIT: I see this has been explicitly requested in this thread : Quote
Ferelwing Posted July 20, 2020 Posted July 20, 2020 I was literally just trying to figure out if there was a way to do this in Affinity as well.. I really miss that tool (makes making things like snow and star scenes so much simpler), Quote
X-Raym Posted December 28, 2021 Posted December 28, 2021 I have requested Randomize transform for VectorStyler and it was implemented in one day.... !! https://www.vectorstyler.com/forum/topic/1278/fr-randomization-for-layers-transform-properties-and-colors/5 2ddpainter and Boldlinedesign 2 Quote
PhoenixCage Posted October 30, 2024 Posted October 30, 2024 (edited) How is this not added yet in soon 2025? I am sure it takes much more than an afternoon, but I totally am on your side. This feature should be around for quite a while and I really wonder why it hasn't made its way in v2. Quote
