popncorn
Can someone please tell me how to draw a thin line circle within a circle? It's probably too easy for me to figure out. Thank you for your help! popncorn
Fixx
Draw a circle. Copy and paste it. Cmd-Shift-drag to make it smaller and to keep it exactly in the center of the other circle. Set stroke weight as needed. (Usually option key is used to keep transformation reference point centered but Affinity chose to use cmd.) Hokusai
popcorn, In addition to the method that Fixx explained, you can also use the "Donut" shape. Just select the donut from the shapes and you can adjust the size of the outer circle and inner circle. It's genius! Hokusai
Fixx
Or, just draw a circle starting from the center of the original circle; snapping/guide features show when you are in the exact center. Keep cmd and shift keys down when drawing. This assuming you want circles to be aligned center.
popncorn
Well, I didn't explain it right! I'm trying to put a thin line in the shape of an circle (oval), inside of a circle (oval). Kinda' like a thin border, but inside the circle and not on the edge of the circle. I'm going to attach a picture, but this option never works. perpendicular.afdesign
MikeW
Well, Pop...not certain what you would like. Anything like this (but with a thick border for the screen shot): If so, duplicate your oval or create a new oval at the bottom of layer 2. Then have no fill and an outline of the width and color of desire. If not what you want, then please clarify. Mike popncorn
Alfred
(Usually option key is used to keep transformation reference point centered but Affinity chose to use cmd.) Isn't that because Affinity uses Option/Alt to temporarily override snapping? Quote Alfred Affinity Designer/Photo/Publisher 2 for Windows • Windows 10 Home/Pro Affinity Designer/Photo/Publisher 2 for iPad • iPadOS 17.4.1 (iPad 7th gen)

You mean on the same layer, but under it? I'm gonna try this. I'll be back in a few! Thank you Mike and Max!

popncorn
Okay, one more issue with this. I have tried to change the width by changing the stroke, width, miter, pressure, scale and any other way I knew to try to no avail. Even at .01, the width is too wide. Again, some things are just too easy to grasp. I have read and would read and watched videos to try understand how to do this. I haven't found one that shows what I'm trying to do, probably because I don't know what you call this except...A CIRCLE IN A CIRCLE! I know it can be done because Max's example showed this function! Can you please explain the steps to achieve a thinner line or tell me what you call this so that I can watch or read about it. Thanks again! MaxHecks
I am at 7pt, works here. I do not know how thin you need it. On kernels2A are small orange strokes that you should erase away.Edit: I do not have the same font as you, so the font might look different. ;) Edited September 1, 2016 by MaxHecks Quote Rig:Board: GigaByte Z97X-Gaming 3 ,CPU: Intel Core i7-4790K CPU @ 4.00GHz, GPU: GeForce GTX 970, RAM: 16 GB / 2 x Crucial BLS8G3D1609DS1S00 8GB DIMM DDR3 PC3-12800U DDR3-1600 (9-9-9-24 5-39-12-6), Display: ACI VS248 24" 1920x1080, 60Hz, OS:Microsoft Windows 10 Pro x64, Main HDD: ADATA SP900 (256GB, SATA600, SSD), driver always up to date. :)

MaxHecks
1. duplicate circle Ctrl+J or in "Edit" > duplicate 2. change size: corner point grab with mouse, press than Shift+Ctrl 3. perhaps something fine alignment necessary in the alignment 4. change line strength like the Images Hope that helps. popncorn 1 Quote Rig:Board: GigaByte Z97X-Gaming 3 ,CPU: Intel Core i7-4790K CPU @ 4.00GHz, GPU: GeForce GTX 970, RAM: 16 GB / 2 x Crucial BLS8G3D1609DS1S00 8GB DIMM DDR3 PC3-12800U DDR3-1600 (9-9-9-24 5-39-12-6), Display: ACI VS248 24" 1920x1080, 60Hz, OS:Microsoft Windows 10 Pro x64, Main HDD: ADATA SP900 (256GB, SATA600, SSD), driver always up to date. :)
