MikeTO Posted December 19, 2024 Posted December 19, 2024 Hi Eric, you have an Intel i7 processor but the feature you're trying to use requires Apple Silicon - an M1, M2, M3, or M4. Serif wrote this in the description of the feature: COMPATIBILITY: Sorry but due to the functions we need to run the Object Selection and Subject Selection functionality, the Machine Learning features only available on Apple Silicon iPads and macOS devices (and those need to be running on a recent macOS, as Catalina, Big Sur and Monterey do not support the required calls). Machine Learning will run on both Windows x64 and Arm64 hardware running Windows 10 or Windows 11. EricGraphix Posted December 19, 2024 Author Posted December 19, 2024 So would buying a better processor help or do I need to upgrade to a better computer? Quote

Hi Eric, you can't change the processor in your iMac. It's unfortunate because you have a fairly new iMac with a gorgeous screen, but to use the machine language features you would need to buy a new computer. Any Mac with an M1, M2, M3, or M4 chip would work. Note that Apple no longer sells a 27" iMac like yours, the current model is only available with a 24" screen. But if you were to upgrade and wanted the same size screen, you could buy a Mac mini with an external monitor. They also are way over priced. If I want to change the processor, RAM, just about anything on my PC I can and have. My linked YouTube video should only serve as an example. There are countless videos describing how to convert iMacs, even newer ones. Of course, you should not do this yourself if you have “two left hands”. Indeed but I don't know any method that is as easy, cheap and efficient as the old target display mode, described in the links above.
