Ron P.
It was reported in the V2 Bug Forum, and could not be replicated using AD V2. However I tested this with the AD V2 Beta, and discovered it does happen in it. This is not unique to the Beta, it is replicable in the Designer v2.5.5 retail version though less easily than in Publisher or Publisher's Designer Persona... For me, on Windows, in Designer it's almost impossible not to replicate the issue in v2.5.5 (Retail and Beta which are now effectively the same version)... The Mac behaviour is slightly different but effectively the same bug... Does this mean that when selecting the locked object and then Shift selecting the unlocked object the unlocked object is automatically selected for you? Staff Affinity Info Bot Posted September 9 Staff Share Posted September 9 An issue raised in this thread ("Object added to selection with locked layer deselects itself") has now been reported to the developers by the testing team (Ref: AF-4231). Thank you very much for reporting this issue to us. Pawwwle
anto
The question arises, what is a locked object? Why can I change the color of a locked object or text in text frame when I click on it in the layers panel? If the object is locked, this function should be inactive, especially since the manual says the following Quote Select Lock/Unlock again, ......., to allow the layer to be editable. If the object is locked, no changes can be made.

And Lock means that you cannot select the object from the workspace (only from the Layers panel or menu), and you cannot move it using the mouse and workspace unless you've selected it in the Layers panel. In Affinity apps, it does not mean "unchangeable". It means only what Serif has documented it to mean. If you select both objects in the Layers panel, the selection is not canceled (2.5.5). Why should it work on the page itself, when according to the documentation, the locked object on the page cannot be accessed? Why select one object in the Layers panel and another on the page?
