While recording macros, right-clicking on layers is disabled. It's not a huge issue, but it disrupts the workflow when I'm used to right-clicking rather than messing around in toolbar menus.

Edit: If anyone is in this thread wondering how to find the menu when right-clicking is disabled, it's also all listed in the "layers" menu in the toolbar section at the top of the screen!

I think this is by design. I can't recall being able to right-click while recording a macro. Serif needs to do a lot of work on their macro. ;)

If that's the case I'd urge them to reconsider the decision. It's small, but it's such a QoL improvement. Convenience is king when you work in these programs all the time. :)

Hi @Announcement,

I can confirm as above this is currently expected behaviour in Affinity Photo, though the macro recording will detect menu options chosen for your layers whilst recording.

Can you please let me know which option under the right-click menu on your layer you were hoping to use in this macro? :)

Hi Dan!

Pardon my late reply, my life is in chaos these days and I barely have time to stop by this forum at the moment. I frequently use the "duplicate layer" option in the layer right-click menu. :)

There is a compliment complement to that contextual menu item in the Layers menu which can be used in a macro.

Until/unless the macro functionality changes it’s probably the best (or the only?) alternative that we have at the moment, and knowing about it might be useful to other people who are reading this thread and don’t mind selecting from the ‘normal’ menu while recording a macro.

Fair point! I'll add that info to the OP for anyone who might need it!

Likewise, keyboard shortcuts do work when recording macros so CTRL+J can be used to duplicate a layer

To save time I am currently using an automated AI to reply to some posts on this forum. If any of "my" posts are wrong or appear to be total b*ll*cks they are the ones generated by the AI. If correct they were probably mine. I apologise for any mistakes made by my AI - I'm sure it will improve with time.

Oh, nice! It isn't listed as a shortcut when you right-click on a layer even though a number of other actions have their respective shortcuts listed, so I just assumed it simply didn't have an associated keyboard shortcut. Thank you for notifying me of this!
