Unfortunately, in this Beta version 2.5.0.2430, the font list in Windows 11 is displayed much worse. Font patterns are smaller and less clear than in previous Beta and production versions. The font lines are squeezed and the last font name at the bottom of the list is truncated in half. I have about 1000 fonts and with this number of fonts the scroll bar shows a tiny slider of 8 pixels, so it is difficult to hit this slider with the cursor arrow.

I know that as the font list increases, the slider to visually determine the number of fonts decreases, but this slider should be really larger. Also when scrolling the font list up and down the list, the width of the list jumps, changing its width and the heart icons and the names TT, O and OV are obscured.

Please fix it for Windows 11, because it hurts my eyes to look at such a blurry font list, so far the list has been working properly. Please change it. Although it would be very good if it was possible to drag the length of the displayed list down with the mouse pointer, increasing the number of displayed font names. I know that in Apple the list is displayed at the entire height of the screen, and in Windows only up to half of the screen without the possibility of extending it.

Please change it.

The issue "[Win] Font list is no longer smoothed on Windows" (REF: AF-2945) has been fixed by the developers in internal build "2.5.0.2437".
This fix should soon be available as a customer beta and is planned for inclusion in the next customer release.
Customer beta builds are announced here and you can participate by following these instructions.
If you still experience this problem once you are using that build version (or later) please reply to this thread including @Affinity Info Bot to notify us.

1) In Windows 11 in this beta version 2.5.0.2449, there is still an error with displaying fonts in the font list.

2) The possibility of extending the font list downwards has been added (great), but unfortunately the program does not remember this setting and after switching to a tool other than text and after restarting the text tool and selecting the font list, the font list returns to its original short height.
It needs to be improved so that the program remembers its own font list height setting in the long term.

3) The next thing to improve is the very small scroll slider for the font list. There are about 1,400 fonts in my computer and the slider in the expanded font list is very small - it is 8 pixels high, so it is very difficult to hit it and move the font list. You need to make this slider at least 3 times larger.

4) And the last thing - if I move the font list up and down - the width of the list changes size: it widens and shortens, sometimes covering the font type icons on the right side of the list - this also needs improvement - this is shown in the video.
Thank you.

I have a much bigger problem here. The preview is missing for quite a few fonts.
And the text size of the list text and preview text is smaller than in the current retail version

I found that a little while ago for the Font Family list when using Find and Replace, and the cog to select Format. Restarting the application resolved that situation. Perhaps it would help for you, too?

In the latest Beta version of Windows 2.5.0.2463, the display of the font list has been improved, but at the bottom of the list there is a small gap that displays font pieces below the last displayed font on the list and, for some reason, the ability to extend the font list with the mouse has disappeared - as it was in the previous version.

Beta version - it was great and now it has been removed. I'm afraid that, unfortunately, it will remain like this until the full version is released - A GREAT PAMAGE.

The update to 2.5.0.2463 has solved both my problems. Many thanks to the developers.

Hello.

The font list on Windows has been brought into line with the Mac version whereby the spacing between lines has been reduced. Allowing more fonts in view. Wasted space is often raised and this addresses that. The list has also been made larger vertically slightly too. Showing partial items on Windows is a UI design practice signifying to the user that there are more items to see.

The idea of having a vertical draggable list was a good idea but unfortunately won’t make it into 2.5. It is technically possible but requires much more development work and testing time (for example intelligently moving up to the top where required and dragging upwards instead and saving between runs as you say) or it may just be better to have the list go full height (as macOS). This whole area needs more thought. I don’t want it rushing in and so I think it should be pushed back into a future update.

Thank you all for your help and suggestions so far.

The idea of dragging a list of fonts with your mouse is not a new invention. CorelDraw and Vectorstyler have always had this functionality. However, in CorelDraw you can individually increase or decrease the font preview in the font list.

Personally, I would prefer if I could decide the height of the font list myself, rather than having it automatically occupy the entire height of the screen like on the Mac.

And it is necessary to enlarge the slider for moving the font list because it is probably the smallest element in the Affinity interface.
