kat
I often switch from Apub to AD then switch back AD to Apub. To switch back from AD I quit both apps then reopen the Apub original doc. Change from AD are there but this is a clunky way of doing it. Better way to do this that works in all Affinity apps?
walt.farrell
One would usually use File > Edit in... (but I would also use File > Save first, for important work). But unless you need the Export Persona, there's no reason tto switch from Publisher to Designer. Just use the Designer Persona within Publisher. kat 1 Quote -- Walt Designer, Photo, and Publisher V1 and V2 at latest retail and beta releases PC: Desktop: Windows 11 Pro, version 23H2, 64GB memory, AMD Ryzen 9 5900 12-Core @ 3.00 GHz, NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3090 Laptop: Windows 11 Pro, version 23H2, 32GB memory, Intel Core i7-10750H @ 2.60GHz, Intel UHD Graphics Comet Lake GT2 and NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3070 Laptop GPU. iPad: iPad Pro M1, 12.9": iPadOS 17.5, Apple Pencil 2, Magic Keyboard Mac: 2023 M2 MacBook Air 15", 16GB memory, macOS Sonoma 14.

kat
I open Apub and click AP on the top menu which opens an AP file. So when I made the edits, I'm actually editing in Apub using AP, or any other affinity apps?

You’re still in Apub when using the Designer and Photo personas. https://affinity.help/publisher2/en-US.lproj/pages/Introduction/about_Personas.html R C-R and kat 2 Quote Windows 10 22H2, 32GB RAM | Affinity Designer/Photo/Publisher 2 (MSI/EXE)
kat
Is it the same when I use File>Edit in AD, AP, Apub like @Ldina posted? I open Apub and click AP on the top menu which opens an AP file. Brian_J
Just now, kat said: Is it the same when I use File>Edit in AD, AP, Apub like @Ldina posted? No, using File > Edit in opens the file in the selected Affinity app. kat 1 Quote Windows 10 22H2, 32GB RAM | Affinity Designer/Photo/Publisher 2 (MSI/EXE)
bbrother
@kat one important thing to note is that when you use a Persona in Affinity Publisher, they do not give you the access to 100% of the tools from Photo or Designer. On the other hand when you use File → Edit in, the file is opened in the selected app like @Brian_J said and you will have 100% tools and all the functionality that the app offers to your use.
