I have an object selected but, unlike previously, the object is in red (it used to be the background - so I went to "invert" but the program still deleted the object and left the background'

I tried re-inverting many time but the object kept being deleted I had successfully eliminated backgrounds hundreds of times but suddenly it's not working.  I reset my password but have not received a reply. please respond.

A screen-shot of what you're seeing would be helpful.

Some scientists claim that hydrogen, because it is so plentiful, is the basic building block of the universe. I dispute that. I say there is more stupidity than hydrogen, and that is the basic building block of the universe.

These are not my own words but I sure like this quote.

It's a very simple object - a glass pitcher. As I was selecting it in refine edge I noticed that the 2 mode buttons at the far left had reversed functions - then when the selection was complete the object was red & I knew that hundreds of times in the past it was the background that was red, and no matter how many times I used the INVERT button in the LAYERS menu, I was not able to cut the background. This should be a very simple problem - can't you simply tell me how to solve this ??

In the Refine Selection dialog, with the Output set to Selection, clicking the Apply button should result in a pixel selection that you can invert: Select > Invert Pixel Selection.

I'm not sure what the '2 mode buttons' are that you're referring to. If what I mentioned above doesn't address your issue, a screenshot showing the entire screen (all Affinity UI), including the Refine Selection dialog, and/or your artwork with the selection you'd like to invert would be helpful.

The wording of this sentence could be interpreted as desperate and demanding or even offensive. Please help the forum to stay a nice place and try to avoid sentences which can be taken offensive, especially if you want to get help / support for your issues.

Menus don’t have buttons, they only have entries or options.

Can’t you simply post a screenshot? Why are you so reluctant to show us what you’re trying to work with?? :/

Hi Ned,

As other forum users have said we would likely need a screenshot or screen-recording demonstrating your problem in order to help you further with this without being able to see the problem you are having it will be very difficult for us to provide support.

Thanks
