Affinityconfusesme
Wonder why it was changed to this from Serif info bot If the acquisition did not happen yet as there has not been any info from staff about changes on how beta cycles will work once the acquisition does finish. an email and response from Serif customer service Hello, Now that Canva owns you, will there be changes to how the beta cycles will work? Will it work like 2.1 and 2.2 or like 2.3 and 2.4? I hope that things only get better because of this, and the one time purchases remain even a couple of years down the line. Thank you, Tzvi20 Hi Tzvi, It is still very early in the acquisition process so we don't have any answers on this just yet I'm afraid. When we have any news on beta tests, the beta forums would be the first place we would update. iuli 1 Quote Lenovo IdeaPad 5 Ryzen 7 5700U Rx Vega 8 graphics 16GB RAM (15.3 usable) Acer KB202 27in 1080p monitor Affinity Photo 1.10.6 Affinity photo 2 2.4.2 Affinity Designer 2 2.4.2 Affinity Publisher 2 2.4.2 on Windows 11 Pro version 23H2 Beta builds as they come out. canon 80d| sigma 18-200mm F3.5-6.3 DC MACRO OS HSM | Tamron SP AF 28-75mm f/2.8 XR Di LD | Canon EF-S 10-18mm f/4.5-5.6 IS STM Autofocus APS-C Lens, Black
Staff Patrick Connor Posted April 3 Staff Share Posted April 3 I personally chose to change the name. I nearly called it "Info Bot" but I think "Affinity info bot" is clearer and more authoritative. 11 hours ago, tzvi20 said: ...how beta cycles will work.... It is "early in the acquisition process" , but it's nevertheless in the past. Serif/Affinity was acquired by Canva 2 weeks ago, and announced publicly 1 week ago. I think the service agent meant nothing has changed so far. Furthermore nothing is due to change. Beta cycles will be the same as for 2.3 and 2.4, new features, improvements and larger fixes in point releases (x in 2.x.y) and bug fixes to address regressions in patch releases (y in 2.x.y). The 2.5.0 beta cycle will start very soon after 2.4.2 patch is released, likely in April MikeTO, Komatös, Affinityconfusesme and 1 other 4 Quote Patrick Connor Serif Europe Ltd Latest V2 releases on each platform Help make our apps better by joining our beta program! Affinityconfusesme
Thanks. I thought things would change based on pledge #2. I am looking forward to some of the most requested features coming to affinity at some point in time. Affinityconfusesme
@Patrick Connor I mean really how many changes there will be in the cycles and how long of a period there will be between them, not the numbering system used for the versions which is simple how it works. Staff Patrick Connor Posted April 3 Staff Share Posted April 3 Sorry, that's my mistake. Each dev cycle has always taken as long as it needs. Normally beta cycles are more than 6-8 weeks and less than 20 with some time between beta cycles for patching. There's no hard and fast rule how often, how long or how many. There never has been, so nothing has changed. Benfischer
It’s after 5 right now in England, so probably tomorrow. It’s not the first time they did forum updating before the release. Could be Monday.
