lexislav Posted April 5, 2016 Posted April 5, 2016 Hi, is there a way to select all parts of group (so the elements inside the group, not the group itself)? It is very needed for setting stroke width or color of the group's elements. But I haven't discover an eas way of select them all in one step. An there may be many of them… What I do now is to gol to layers and manualy select all the leayers inside the group. Thanks for any tip on this. sophie201 1 Quote
Staff MEB Posted April 5, 2016 Staff Posted April 5, 2016 Hi lexislav, No, there's no other way apart from the one you are using. You can also try to press ⌘ (cmd) and drag a marquee around the objects on canvas but this will also select objects from other groups/layers. Quote A Guide to Learning Affinity Software
PixelPest Posted April 5, 2016 Posted April 5, 2016 If you´re talking about Affinity Designer. Maybe: Expand the group in Layers panel - select first item - scroll down to the end of the list - hold shift key down and click last item - all items are now selected. If you hold down "shift+alt" you will see only selected items. Cheers P. Quote
thedivclass Posted January 19, 2022 Posted January 19, 2022 +1 for "select > children", please also, ideally - when the group is selected on canvas - pressing "return" would select all child layers/objects within it - as is the case with figma - a huge time saver - especially when wishing to edit multiple nodes from different curves within the same group. thanks Raptosauru5, tór-grímsson, sophie201 and 1 other 4 Quote
thedivclass Posted January 25, 2022 Posted January 25, 2022 idea/suggestion: if a group is selected with the move tool (v), then switching to the node tool (a) should select all the child elements - rather than the group container itself - as this can't be modified with the node tool anyway (meaning, at present, you then must again manually select the child element(s) in the layers panel before you can use the node tool). this would be a huge timer saver. many thanks sophie201 1 Quote

Meliora spero Posted December 9, 2024 Posted December 9, 2024 It is a particularly lacking feature when working extensively with grouped elements, as any intelligent person would, given that Affinity supports thousands of objects with high performance. Navigating all of this in the layers panel can be cumbersome. However, you probably shouldn’t expect this feature—ever—since it hasn’t been implemented since 2016 (first post), and I’ve seen others request similar functionality. sophie201 1 Quote Serif, did you foolishly fill the usability specialist role you advertised internally? sophie201 Posted March 29 Posted March 29 I too am frustrated with this. Selecting a group with the Move Tool and then switching to the Node Tool should select all nodes in the group. Windows 11. Affinity V2 Universal Licence. Quote
