stewart_whaley
If you drag an image (eg: *.png) from a .ZIP file onto a document in Publisher v2.2.1 the application will crash. NOTE: Worked in v1.0. ***Also crashes in beta Publisher 2.30 (2114) MacOS: Sonoma v14.1.1 (23B81)
walt.farrell
I'm new to macOS, so perhaps I'm misunderstanding what you're doing... But, how are you viewing the contents of the .zip file, and then dragging something out of it onto a document in Publisher? stewart_whaley
It's opening using WinZip [for Mac]. Like I mentioned this scenario worked in Publisher v1.x
walt.farrell
Thanks. I won't be able to help you, I'm afraid, as I don't use WinZip. And I don't have seem to have anything else that allows drag/drop from a zip file. Are you getting any crash reports that might help with the problem diagnosis? Hangman
Hi @stewart_whaley, I can confirm the crash in both v2.2.1 and v2.3.0.2114 Beta... For me, it will crash only when dragging a file from a .zip file directly onto a page. If dragging into the app without a page open there is no crash... Note: I'm testing using BetterZip, so it's not specific to WinZip. It doesn't crash when using v1.10.6. I agree that there is a difference between expanding / decompressing a ZIP file and viewing its contents. I would suggest expanding it rather than viewing the contents and trying to drag files out (without expanding). I suppose the only thing here is that doing so (without expanding) works quite happily in the v1 apps, i.e., without crashing the app though having said that if adding as a Linked file, pre-flight throws up an error because it can't locate the linked file since it's again located in a randomly named hidden temporary cache folder... /var/folders/cw/dpswk0z567v_xsg88xv0pz2r0000gn/T/620ADDAD-7ABC-4B37-AB32-97FD4FECFEA7/ So I'm assuming the apps aren't really meant to support adding files in this way... At least, not Linked. Embedded would not have that problem, of course. stewart_whaley
I would agree it's in a "questionable" state however A) It worked in v1.x and B) Though it might no longer be supported let's at least not crash. walt.farrell
