rui_mac
On a Mac, while on any Open/Save dialog (also happens when exporting), if we right-click a file and choose Rename, the keystrokes are captured by the Affinity apps, not by the OS. So, it is impossible to rename any file from an Open/Save dialog, in any of the Affinity apps.
walt.farrell
It works fine for me. What macOS release are you using, and what kind of Mac? Are you using a trackpad or mouse? Edit: Also, is this new with the Beta for you? If not, the discussion should be in the normal section of the forums Quote -- Walt Designer, Photo, and Publisher V1 and V2 at latest retail and beta releases PC: Desktop: Windows 11 Pro, version 23H2, 64GB memory, AMD Ryzen 9 5900 12-Core @ 3.00 GHz, NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3090 Laptop: Windows 11 Pro, version 23H2, 32GB memory, Intel Core i7-10750H @ 2.60GHz, Intel UHD Graphics Comet Lake GT2 and NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3070 Laptop GPU. iPad: iPad Pro M1, 12.9": iPadOS 17.4.1, Apple Pencil 2, Magic Keyboard Mac: 2023 M2 MacBook Air 15", 16GB memory, macOS Sonoma 14.4.
rui_mac
I haven’t tried with the non-beta versions. I will try it as soon as I get home. I’m on an Intel Mac, running Catalina. walt.farrell
MikeTO
Works for me on Sonoma 14.1 And just to be clear, in the open and place dialogs. With save and export, you can't rename files because they're greyed out. rui_mac
I just tested with the currently released versions. Although it is still not possible to rename, at least the keystroke are not being captured by the apps. So, the release versions and the beta versions have different behaviours but neither allow for renaming files in the Open/Save dialogs. walt.farrell

Both do, for me. So it may be an issue with Catalina. I'm not aware of any issues with Catalina in this respect in general OS terms but as @walt.farrell mentions this could be Affinity/Catalina specific... walt.farrell 1 Quote Affinity Designer 2.4.2 | Affinity Photo 2.4.2 | Affinity Publisher 2.4.2 Affinity Designer Beta 2.5.0 (2430) | Affinity Photo Beta 2.5.0 (2430) | Affinity Publisher Beta 2.5.0 (2430) Affinity Designer 1.7.3 | Affinity Photo 1.7.3 | Affinity Publisher 1.10.8 MacBook Pro 16GB, macOS Monterey 12.7.4, Magic Mouse
rui_mac
Yes, probably it is something that only happens in this OS.
Staff EmT Posted November 6, 2023 Staff Share Posted November 6, 2023 Hi @rui_mac We cannot reproduce this on Catalina, could you please send a screen recording of this in action so we can see if we are missing a step.
