Renaming files on a Open/Save dialog doesn't work.

Recommended Posts

On a Mac, while on any Open/Save dialog (also happens when exporting), if we right-click a file and choose Rename, the keystrokes are captured by the Affinity apps, not by the OS.
So, it is impossible to rename any file from an Open/Save dialog, in any of the Affinity apps.

It works fine for me. What macOS release are you using, and what kind of Mac? Are you using a trackpad or mouse?

Edit: Also, is this new with the Beta for you? If not, the discussion should be in the normal section of the forums :)

With save and export, you can't rename files because they're greyed out.

That's perfectly possible...

Affinity Designer 2.4.2 | Affinity Photo 2.4.2 | Affinity Publisher 2.4.2
Affinity Designer  Beta 2.5.0 (2430) | Affinity Photo Beta 2.5.0 (2430) | Affinity Publisher Beta 2.5.0 (2430)

Affinity Designer 1.7.3 | Affinity Photo 1.7.3 | Affinity Publisher 1.10.8
MacBook Pro 16GB, macOS Monterey 12.7.4, Magic Mouse

So, the release versions and the beta versions have different behaviours but neither allow for renaming files in the Open/Save dialogs.

Both do, for me. So it may be an issue with Catalina.

Just tested with 2.2.1 and 2.3.0.2096 (Beta) and both allow renaming with Open, Save and Export...

I'm not aware of any issues with Catalina in this respect in general OS terms but as @walt.farrell mentions this could be Affinity/Catalina specific...

Hi @rui_mac

We cannot reproduce this on Catalina, could you please send a screen recording of this in action so we can see if we are missing a step.

I am currently Out of Office, please tag @Affinity Info Bot in your replies for another member of QA to see.
