stger
Since version 2.2 Affinity creates ~lock~ files when I open a file. That's pretty annoying, is there any way to disable this?
PaulEC
Which app are you using, and what do you mean by "~lock~ " files? (Do you just mean that the Background layer is locked, if so you can change this in Settings.) stger
I mean a real file which is created as soon I open an Affinity file (Photo or Publisher, probably also Designer)
PaulEC
I've never noticed this (probably because I normally don't show hidden files). It seems to be a temporary file that Affinity creates while you are working on it. Once you close the file in the app the temp file disappears. stger
this is correct and I think it's new in 2.2. And I think those files should not be visible to the user.
walt.farrell
It's a new 2.2 function and is part of Serif's efforts to prevent loss of data and alleviate the issues that trigger messages about access to files being lost. 19 minutes ago, stger said: And I think those files should not be visible to the user. There's no way for them not to be visible, as far as I know. Other applications do something similar, too, for example creating placeholder files with ~ at the end. stger
Those files could be at least flagged as hidden per default.
stger
ah... nvm... they are. I didn't noticed that in my browser hidden files are shown

If the hidden files are shown, I can inadvertently do a hell of a lot of hard-core serious damage to my computer's ability to work. I would turn it back to having the hidden files hidden. carl123
The new ~lock~ files are there to prevent two users/affinity apps, opening the same file at the same time They contain information about which computer user and affinity app currently has the file open Quote To save time I am currently using an automated AI to reply to some posts on this forum.
