myephemera
Is it possible to create a clickable grid and fill each square with different colours? It's easy to do in Excel, as in the image. Not really what Excel is for and lacks the nuances that might be needed, but not sure it's possible in Affinity without having to create the individual squares and duplicate them. Thanks for any ideas.
Hangman
Hi @myephemera and welcome to the forums, This is possible in Affinity Publisher using a table. Which app are you hoping to achieve this with, Publisher or Designer? Return
There's not a blend tool that makes the color nuances go per square if that's what you meant? You can create a grid easily in the affinities but the color filling is either manual or by creating a gradient fill that spans several squares and is adjusted to fit that particular square. StuartRc
You can create a grid with lines (Pen or Pencil) and fill the interstices using the 'Vector Fill Flood Tool' . This will create vector squares of any colour you choose. You say this as if it is a bad or complicated thing? Perhaps I am not fully understanding what you want to create, or how you intend to use it. But if all you need is a grid of squares, each of which has a different colour, then you can use the Quick Grid feature to make your array of squares in a couple of seconds. myephemera
Ah, I'm not on Affinity 2. But maybe a reason to upgrade.
GarryP
Just out of interest, does each square need to be filled with a particular manually-selected colour, or is there some kind of sequence, or would it just be ‘random’, or something else? Well there are also online SVG grid makers which use rectangles, so you can define/pick the grid style you like (rects in your case), define it's pattern and then copy the SVG code over (or save the generated SVG grid as a file for an import instead...) into ADe/APh etc. made-grid-from-svg.afdesign SVG grid pattern generator <--- *** https://gridulator.com/ https://webgrid.com/ https://www.magicpattern.design/tools/grid-background-pattern-generator ... and so on ... There are also such online things for SVG pattern generation ... https://pattern.monster/ Hangman 1 Quote ☛ Affinity Designer 1.10.8 ◆ Affinity Photo 1.10.8 ◆ Affinity Publisher 1.10.8 ◆ OSX El Capitan ☛ Affinity V2.3 apps ◆ MacOS Sonoma 14.2 ◆ iPad OS 17.
myephemera
@v_kyr Thank you. I didn't even think of using a SVG generator. Takes all the hassle out of it.
