dre. Posted June 22, 2023 Posted June 22, 2023 Clearly this request from V1 (2015) has been ignored, any chance of adding this function in V2 please? Barry Newman, loukash, bures and 1 other 4 Quote
RNKLN Posted June 22, 2023 Posted June 22, 2023 Not yet implemented isn't the same as ignored, but yes, it would be a very nice feature. PaulEC and bures 2 Quote Affinity Photo - Affinity Designer - Affinity Publisher | macOS Sonoma (14.5) on 16GB MBP14 2021 with 2.5.X versions
dre. Posted June 22, 2023 Author Posted June 22, 2023 Yes, I want to try and create random jagged waveforms from parallel/straight lines (so not freehand), I'd say 8 years from the first request is as good as being ignored Gripsholm Lion 1 Quote
_Th Posted June 22, 2023 Posted June 22, 2023 The workaround in the older thread by @NotMyFault works well, though it's a lot to go through for the given results, especially when you're used to things like this being "built in" to the software many of us formerly used. And, yes, it is a workaround for a tool that is used frequently for architectural drawings and a lot more. Not being on the Serif team, there's no way to fully understand the prioritization of seemingly-basic requests like this. Hopefully this one is easy enough to implement and has enough traction to be included in 2.x. It would definitely be another notable workflow improvement. Quote
impsux Posted July 12, 2023 Posted July 12, 2023 A vector smooth/roughen à la CorelDraw would be enough for me to completely drop Corel for Affinity. CorelDraw's vector smooth brush is pure MAGIC! TonyO 1 Quote
JenDre Posted November 16, 2023 Posted November 16, 2023 Hi, is there any news from V2.x regarding the roughening lines function mentioned above? Quote
loukash Posted November 17, 2023 Posted November 17, 2023 No news. But "Roughen" is probably my #1 Illustrator feature that I miss in Affinity. There are several workarounds/workflows that can simulate a "roughen" effect though. I've posted quite a few in the past years: https://forum.affinity.serif.com/index.php?/search/&q=roughen&quick=1&author=loukash&search_and_or=and&sortby=relevancy JenDre 1 Quote MacBookAir 15": MacOS Ventura > Affinity v1, v2, v2 beta // MacBookPro 15" mid-2012: MacOS El Capitan > Affinity v1 / MacOS Catalina > Affinity v1, v2, v2 beta // iPad 8th: iPadOS 16 > Affinity v2
JenDre Posted November 29, 2023 Posted November 29, 2023 @loukash Thanks for your response. What a pitty that this essential tool is still not implemented; even in V2. Quote
Aerobraking Posted March 16, 2024 Posted March 16, 2024 Highly requested from me as well. Kinda frustrating that there isn't any(?) feedback from the developers to this feature, so I hope we hear something about it soon. Quote
Bit Disappointed Posted March 17, 2024 Posted March 17, 2024 Yes, please, to both roughen and smoothen, provided they are versatile. That is, capable of handling extremes but also, and perhaps primarily, adept at producing small, curved, almost organic variations. So that straight lines do not resemble a machine-cut edge, and similarly with smoothen. Flexible. bures 1 Quote I simply no longer believe that there are any professional graphic designers here. Everything follows suit. Just everything.
