Fading a photo's edges

Recommended Posts

1. Create a rectangle or an ellipse at the appropriate size and position on top of the photo.

2. Apply a Gaussian Blur filter effect to the shape that you created.

3. In the Layers panel, drag the shape layer and drop it onto the thumbnail of the photo layer.

Hi. Thanks. I did exactly what you said, but it came out as a white rectangle fading to nothing over the image.

The image is only visible around the edges, as if it needs to be inverted but I can't see how to do that.

Did you drop the rectangle layer onto the thumbnail of the image layer as suggested, or did you drag the rectangle layer onto the name of the image layer? They each do different things.

I'm not sure - I think I dropped the layer. I'll try again. Thanks

Use the live Gaussian Blur filter. After you've dropped it onto the picture you can adjust the size and the blur in the image.
