ivanmezcua Posted October 9, 2014 Posted October 9, 2014 Hi there! This is my second attempt to Affinity Designer and I can't find the way to make the handels of a curve to snap to the grid.Is there any way? And a second question: how do I change the size of grid. If I zoom in the grid grows, but couldn't find the panel to change the grid, if there is one. Thanks in advance Iván Unsatisfied ex-customer 1 Quote

Thanks in advance Iván If you mean how to snap the on curve nodes then just switch on Snap to Grid in the snapping options. Customisable grids are on our feature roadmap. Quote
Staff MEB Posted October 9, 2014 Staff Posted October 9, 2014 I think the OP means the handles of the nodes. In that case that's not possible at this moment. But i believe it's coming soon with other improvements to the snapping system. Quote A Guide to Learning Affinity Software
ivanmezcua Posted October 10, 2014 Author Posted October 10, 2014 Hi MEB! Thank you for confirm it to me. Though it was something missed in the Beta Version. Hope it will be included in next versions. It gives you a more accurate drawing and that's the way I like to work. Unsatisfied ex-customer 1 Quote
Staff MEB Posted October 10, 2014 Staff Posted October 10, 2014 Yes, it's a powerful way to control curves with precision. Ben is the developer working on the snapping system and i know there's more improvements coming but i'm not aware of all the details. Only him can give you a definite answer. ivanmezcua Posted October 15, 2014 Author Posted October 15, 2014 Hi MEB!Good to hear! Looking forward for those improvements. Hope Ben listen my prayers for this handle snapping :) Quote
krspond Posted September 15, 2015 Posted September 15, 2015 I came across Affinity as a result of getting fed up with AI. AI removing the behavior of handles snapping to grid intersections and ignoring all of the outcries of the users for well over a year now is the last straw for me. If Affinity adds this behavior, I will almost certainly switch to this software from AI. Quote
Staff Ben Posted September 16, 2015 Staff Posted September 16, 2015 There will be snapping improvements coming in the near(ish) future. ----- 1 Quote SerifLabs team - Affinity Developer Software engineer - Photographer - Guitarist - Philosopher iMac 27" Retina 5K (Late 2015), 4.0GHz i7, AMD Radeon R9 M395 MacBook (Early 2015), 1.3GHz Core M, Intel HD 5300 iPad Pro 10.5", 256GB

ambethia Posted October 26, 2016 Posted October 26, 2016 Any movement on this? I can't seem to find out how to turn this on. dr_who 1 Quote
Staff MEB Posted October 26, 2016 Staff Posted October 26, 2016 Hi ambethia, Welcome to Affinity Forums :) No, it's not possible to snap the handles of nodes yet. Quote A Guide to Learning Affinity Software
mokafolio Posted April 6, 2017 Posted April 6, 2017 Is the handle snapping coming anytime soon? Its super crucial for many workflows such as logo and type design. dr_who 1 Quote
----- Posted June 4, 2017 Posted June 4, 2017 Please add snapping handle nodes to the grid. dr_who 1 Quote .
Staff Ben Posted June 5, 2017 Staff Posted June 5, 2017 This has already been covered in a another thread. There will be the option to use Shift to constrain handles, and that will include snapping to grid axis. It's been done, and will feature in a Beta soon. dr_who and ----- 2 Quote SerifLabs team - Affinity Developer Software engineer - Photographer - Guitarist - Philosopher iMac 27" Retina 5K (Late 2015), 4.0GHz i7, AMD Radeon R9 M395 MacBook (Early 2015), 1.3GHz Core M, Intel HD 5300 iPad Pro 10.5", 256GB

Staff Ben Posted July 10, 2017 Staff Posted July 10, 2017 Probably in the 1.7 Beta... CaptNeo Posted June 4, 2018 Posted June 4, 2018 I'd like to second this. This is quite essential for creating all sorts of precision shapes. Since everything else snaps wonderfully, I actually thought this was a bug. Ergo: Pretty please! Quote
fercen Posted June 25, 2018 Posted June 25, 2018 I'm hoping for having the handles covered by the snapping system, too... Quote
M911 Posted April 13, 2019 Posted April 13, 2019 Has this been implemented yet? this thread is from 2014... it takes 5 years to add a small feature?? Quote
Aammppaa Posted April 13, 2019 Posted April 13, 2019 Yes. You can snap handle in the 1.7 beta (which has been available and in rapid development for many months now). Handles not only snap to the grid, but can also follow all other snapping options. Quote Win10 Home x64 | AMD Ryzen 7 2700X @ 3.7GHz | 48 GB RAM | 1TB SSD | nVidia GTX 1660 | Wacom Intuos Pro
