Mariusz_F Posted February 11, 2023 Posted February 11, 2023 macOS Ventura v.13.2 Hardware acceleration ON Problem description: 1. Using the Crop Tool when changing the first left value of the Mode: Custom Ratio settings and pressing the tab button, the cursor is not skipping to the right value, but settings are sets immediately to the image. To change the right value you have to make additional click on it by the mouse. Problem do not appear in Affinity Photo V1 2. The Crop Tool do not remember last crop settings, even after control-Z. Remark: The Crop tool remember its previous settings but only for some values, eg. 5x4 at Mode: Custom Ratio, but not eg. for 4x5 (why?) The same problem appear in Affinity Photo V1. Quote

All values were recalled when using CMD+Z / CMD+Shift+Z for me - are you able to provide a screen recording of this for me? Thanks in advance! Quote
Mariusz_F Posted February 13, 2023 Author Posted February 13, 2023 Hi Dan, Please find screen shots for this issue : "Remark: The Crop tool remember its previous settings but only for some values, eg. 5x4 at Mode: Custom Ratio, but not eg. for 4x5 (why?) " Steps por the 4:5 ratio: 1. Click Crop tool and set Custom Rate 4:5 2. Apply Crop tool 3. CMD+Z and click Crop tool again (or just click Crop tool again) -> Mode is in the default settings and do not remember last 4:5 ratio Repeat this steps for 5x4 ratio: 4. Click Crop tool and set Custom Rate 5:4 5. Apply Crop tool 6. CMD+Z and click Crop tool again (or just click Crop tool again) -> BINGO! Mode remember last 5:4 settings! Quote
Dan C Posted February 13, 2023 Posted February 13, 2023 Many thanks for providing that for me - my apologies as I was not 'applying' the crop before undoing, but with your above steps I'm able to replicate this behaviour and I'm logging it with our devs now Mariusz_F 1 Quote
BigStef Posted March 8, 2023 Posted March 8, 2023 @Mariusz_F I agree with point 1 : Using tab to modify value in crop tool is weird. This issue is also in other apps of the suite, but sorry i had this issue this morning and can remember in which app for which window. Quote

SS Gilbert Posted November 23, 2023 Posted November 23, 2023 OK, I've never been able to figure out the crop tool in Designer. After I drag handles to my selection, I don't see SELECT in the context bar. (Always works great in AP.) What am I missing? Mac OS Ventura 13.6.1 AD 2 v 2.2.1 Quote

You're missing that the usual Crop Tool in Photo provides a raster crop of the canvas, but the Crop Tool in Designer Crops a vector object, and the two tools work differently. But basically, you drag the marked corner or edge nodes. Thank you, Walt, but it is not automatically cropped or I wouldn't have started this feed. Anyone else is free to comment here! The issue is extricating my cropped selection from the background so I can use it. Quote

Is that what you're working with, or do you have a raster design? walt.farrell Posted November 24, 2023 Posted November 24, 2023 For more on what the Crop Tool does in Designer: https://affinity.help/designer2/en-US.lproj/pages/Tools/tools_crop.html I suspect, @SS Gilbert, that you have a raster design and you should be making a pixel selection in the Pixel Persona of Designer, then Copying that. But without more information about your design it will be hard to say more. For example, it would help to see the Layers panel. In your image it looks like you don't have that layer selected in the Layers panel It looks like you may have a different layer selected (one below that shown image) A full-sized screenshot, showing the Layers panel and the crop tool selected or a video recording may help see what you are doing Quote To save time I am currently using an automated AI to reply to some posts on this forum.
