400 dpi limit?

Recommended Posts

I’ve been fighting with Affinity Designer 2 all day long, and it’s just so disappointing. I’ve tracked everything else down to known bugs (more fool me for not checking that basic features work before buying), but I can’t confirm this one…

I’m trying to create a new document at 600 dpi using Affinity Designer 2 for iPad. I’ve seen people report this, only to be told you simply need to type in the value manually. As you can see from the attached video, entering 600 manually does not work. What am I missing?

You cannot specify non-listed DPI at creation, but you can use resize document later after creation and specify any (whole number) DPI.

Thank you very much! I’m glad there’s a workaround, albeit unintuitive.

It’s another of those “is this really a serious product” details, though. Maybe you’re getting into less common territory above 2400 dpi, but to imply by UI design that 600 dpi was an unforeseen use case is frankly bizarre. What industry is “400” targeted at, as an upper default?

I know nobody has answers, I’m just upset that I’ve wasted so much of my day on this “upgrade” I paid for.

You can, but only up to 400dpi. This surely has to be a bug as there is no logical reason for limiting. Post should be moved to Designer bug forum. 🤔

As you can see from the attached video

Just as an FYI, your (Full HD?) video doesn’t display on my humble iPad Air 2.

This has been logged with our developers.

And what is happening? Upgraded to V2 Suite today from the old apps and still not possible to change or create a document in 600 dpi in eighter Publisher or Photo?!

So here I am, working in my old versions ... SO happy I didn't delete them – but I feel really stupid. Why a 400 dpi limit? It must be a bad joke?

Just bumping this again as this is still driving me nuts on the iPad. Having to resize the document immediately after your create it (the workaround) is getting old.

You can save your own templates from existing documents with the desired dpi. This might reduce the pain.
