What advantage would that have over Developing the image and then applying the LUT?

I could kind of see that for various technical LUTs - for example if working with still captures from cinema/video cameras that might have been recorded in a log mode, to correctly reverse the log curve.

 

I don't really see a significant benefit to this were it only for creative LUTs, but possibly for technical ones...

I just had a need to apply the Fujifilm Film Simulation LUT.
Lightroom and other popular development tools can do it.
Applying it before the development would be good in terms of quality and accuracy I think.

If you require the highest available quality and accuracy, then the developed image (which is always processed in 32 bits) must be converted/stored to 32-bit format.

Then any editing done during RAW development (pre-development is nonsense of course) or post-development works with completely identical image data, so it doesn't matter.

Sure, I'm aware of that.
But if I could do both the development and the film simulation in the Development persona at the same time, it would be more intuitive and quick.
