I've just upgrade to 1.10.5.1342 this morning, and noticed that my PNG exports are not saving any camera metadata.

JPG is exporting them correctly, but not PNG. I usually convert RAW -> PNG, then import into PTGui to create panos, but I noticed it wasn't able to read the camera lens settings, and checking them in file manager is showing no data. Images attached.

Nothing on the PNG:

missing exif data.png

The JPG is fine:

with exif data in jpg.png

Its not a bug. I've exported an .CR2 as .png in Photoshop and here's no exif data too.

This isn't correct however the metadata is saved as xmp not exif and it seems that PTGui cannot read it, Hugin cannot either

If you do

exiftool -exif:* Portrait.png > PortraitEXIF.txt then the file is empty

whereas

exiftool -xmp:* Portrait.png > PortraitXMP.txt

produces the attached sample

Basically, png metadata is a bit of universal mess and that's not a pop at Serif. Anyway, why not use tiffs as input to PTGui?

PortraitXMP.txt
