iMac1943 Posted February 17, 2022 Author Posted February 17, 2022 Is Sketch-up also good for technical drawings? I only need 2D. Does anyone has knowledge about the CADINTOSH program? Quote
Fixx Posted February 17, 2022 Posted February 17, 2022 SketchUp should have adequate dimensioning tools too. Quote
iMac1943 Posted February 17, 2022 Author Posted February 17, 2022 OK, I should try it. Certainly with what firstdefence is showing here. Quote
iMac1943 Posted February 17, 2022 Author Posted February 17, 2022 I started SketchUp, but it opens in 3D. Can I change it to 2D? Quote

iMac1943 Posted February 17, 2022 Author Posted February 17, 2022 there is QCad, CADintosh and LibreCad. Which one is good for me, knowing that I only need 2D? Quote
Eddy-2 Posted February 17, 2022 Posted February 17, 2022 After some Windows 10 updates, The CAD I've used for many years stopped working. I tried LibreCad but didn't take to it for some reason. After trying the free version of QCAD, I splashed out £36 (including VAT) for the full version. I haven't used it much and there is a bit of a learning curve. That said, it seems to think for you and for someone using it regularly, I suspect it would soon be easy to use. One of the first things I did was that below. Exported to SVG from QCAD and opened in Designer. 7-sides (50p).afdesign Quote
iMac1943 Posted February 17, 2022 Author Posted February 17, 2022 Thank you both Eddy-2 and Lagarto. I'll follow your advice! So I'll go for QCad! Eddy-2 1 Quote

As I understand it, like the old free app version, the free online version does not support exporting to a vector format like SVG Affinity can use. That may or may not be important for the OP or others.
