Gignero Posted November 23, 2021 Posted November 23, 2021 Skimming @dannyg9's Skin Art Magazine 177 design, I thought I'd try my hand at a Trash Polka tattoo design. All white area is transparent (including the typography). Suggestions for composition improvement would be appreciated. Wosven, stokerg, dannyg9 and 1 other 4 Quote
dannyg9 Posted November 23, 2021 Posted November 23, 2021 Absolutely love it and thanks for the shout out. The only thing I would change is the shadow on the crow, in that I'd make it less solid and more stippled (like the red and black blast at the bottom). Cool work. Gignero 1 Quote
Gignero Posted November 24, 2021 Author Posted November 24, 2021 Considering your advice, I did some more research on the genre and discovered splashes and paint runs were well liked. So, with some stippling and splashes added...I like it more. Thanks! GarryP, StuartRc, Antony parks and 4 others 7 Quote
dannyg9 Posted November 24, 2021 Posted November 24, 2021 It was a suggestion and I'm glad you took me up on it as it REALLY pulled everything together. You probably would have come to it on your own after looking at the piece for a while. All that said, and amazing and beautiful piece of work. Gignero 1 Quote

jamie_greenwa1d Posted May 13, 2024 Posted May 13, 2024 Pretty cool design, I love trash polka. Also, I would personally do the roman numbers a bit brighter. It would be perfectly fine, as almost all trash polka tats have a contrasting design. Here are some examples for reference: https://ink-match.com/gallery/all/all/all/trash-polka/all/all/ Quote

I completely agree about the Roman numerals. I didn’t even see them until I looked carefully after reading your comment! Komatös Posted May 13, 2024 Posted May 13, 2024 Have you ever looked at the creation date? It is possible that the OP has already had this tattooed. And when tattooed, the Roman numerals will be so small anyway that the brightness is irrelevant. Unless it is applied to a large area on the back or chest/abdomen🤔 Quote MAC mini M4 | MacOS Sequoia 15.3.1 | 16 GB RAM | 256 GB SSD AMD Ryzen 7 5700X | INTEL Arc A770 LE 16 GB | 32 GB DDR4 3200MHz | Windows 11 Pro 24H2 (26100.3194) Affinity Suite V 2.5.7 & Beta 2.6 (latest) Interested in a free (selfhosted) PDF Solution? It’s probably down to my screen rather than yours — or, more likely, my eyes!
