CaroleG
To R C_R. Thank you. I guess I will have a whole lot of re-learning to do when I get the desktop and AD installed. Hopefully it will help me as I have early signs of cataracts and no chance in UK at the moment or for a long while of getting an operation if they get worse. Not that I’d want to go into hospital at this time anyway. Know too many people who went in with one thing and came out with Covid and died. Sorry for misunderstanding that you meant desktop and not ipad version. jmwellborn

Carole wrote in her OP that “it makes sense to have a desktop compatible with [her] iPad Pro”. That doesn’t seem to preclude the option of a desktop Mac which happens not to be an all-in-one machine. jmwellborn 1 Quote Alfred Affinity Designer/Photo/Publisher 2 for Windows • Windows 10 Home/Pro Affinity Designer/Photo/Publisher 2 for iPad • iPadOS 17.4.1 (iPad 7th gen)

Sorry for misunderstanding that you meant desktop and not ipad version. Having gone through the cataracts business myself, I think you will find any iMac lovely to work with, particularly with a Retina screen. One of the downsides about a developing cataract is that it changes the actual colors that we see -- often putting a yellowish cast on every color. The Retina screens will definitely brighten things up, although no matter what computer you use before you do have your cataract surgeries, you may want to check with actual color charts to be sure that when you are choosing a lovely shade of something (you think) you are actually getting that shade (values in RGB, CMYK, etc.) and not something slightly off. There are probably loads of places to look, but I have found a "List of colors" ( A-Z) on Wikipedia that will show you what I mean. Good luck with your new machine, whatever you choose, and stay out of the hospital if you can!! 😊 Alfred and v_kyr 2 Quote 24" iMAC Apple M1 chip, 8-core CPU, 8-core GPU, 16 GB unified memory, 1 TB SSD storage, Ventura 13.6. That's a serious question as I don't have a retina Mac to test it. But I'd expect retina displays to be largely resolution agnostic, meaning you can scale the display content to your liking without getting blurry – unlike pre-retina displays like my MacBook Pro 2012. jmwellborn 1 Quote MacBookAir 15": MacOS Ventura > Affinity v1, v2, v2 beta // MacBookPro 15" mid-2012: MacOS El Capitan > Affinity v1 / MacOS Catalina > Affinity v1, v2, v2 beta // iPad 8th: iPadOS 16 > Affinity v2
