glyph browser implemenation

Recommended Posts

You can switch over to the Light UI, you can make the glyphs bigger from the small hamburger menu on this panel and the recently used glyphs are shown at the bottom of the panel, which comes pretty close to a favourites list.

The glyphs in the glyph browser are fuzzy, and displayed over a dark background. It would be useful if the contents of this display was more visible. Also useful would be a user settable collection of favorite glyphs.

Yep the anti-alias (smoothing) does make them hard to identify, Serif should switch to an other anti-alias algorithm for this view, further I miss the Windows character map feature that pops up a bigger version when you click a letter for example 'z':

It really helps checking out complex signs, symbols whatever.

Option to save favorites is also a great idea. Would also work as text assets (feature request), right @sfriedberg

I know that's missing, but if you set the Glyph Browser to Large Size or Largest Size doesn't that suffice?

Sort of yes - I never liked the lack of such options in Windows tool. I just think the click'n'preview is an elegant tool to inspect just one symbol further without much hassle no matter what. It is a nice to have.

Besides the pop up preview the Windows char map is archaic - never loved it - the pop up preview is just a great feature. Perhaps even more for people with high resolutions.

Serif included an ‘enlarged preview’ feature in at least one of their legacy software products, so they obviously know how to do it (at least on Windows).

You mean... Show large characters??  But they did display characters on a white background - I think they still should.

No, I mean clicking and/or dragging on an asset to make it large enough to see clearly, to help you decide whether or not to add it to the page.
