  1. Hi all, I’m just curious more than anything, ive always had an issue with batch processing. All I use it for is to take my AFPhoto files and batch convert them to JPEGS. I find that no matter the size of the job my iMac crashes. Even if it’s five images my Mac full on freezes and eventually shuts down and restarts. I don’t get a kernel panic in the logs but it’s clearly what’s happening. Does anyone else find this happens or have any other ideas so that I can convert with out having to do them one by one.
  2. Hello, I'm having a similar issue with crash, simply by selecting the menu item... New Batch Job... I have 1.7.1 and Mac OS 10.14.6
  3. I’m about to adopt the Affinity suite of apps for iPad and Mac OS. (Photo and Designer) I am a heavy Lightroom user. What are people using to do this function if you are not using Adobes Creative Cloud? Ideas?
  4. I have read somewhere that AP cannot create Spherical (360) panos, is this correct?? If so, what can software(s) can produce, handle/stitch, create Spherical (360) Panos?? I am using a drone to capture the individual images and need an appropriate software package to create the 360 Pano. I was under the impression that AP could handle/produce the 360 Panos before purchasing, etc. Now I am learning it is more of a great editing tool for an already created spherical (360) Pano Image... Any info would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.
  5. I've been so busy that I haven't had time to deal with the "you must update your CUDA driver" message that appeared since the latest MacOS update (and for which there are apparently non-Apple solutions), but it did raise an interesting question: does the Affinity code also use this driver to speed up processing, and, if so, does that still work with this sort-of-bug-that-nobody-seems-to-claim? I like the idea of using all the horse power in a machine to make things go faster - heck, I like anything that goes faster - so I'd be interested if fixing what is at present just a nuisance may help the application along. Call it an extra motivation to find an answer, it may otherwise be with me for another half year
  6. Hi the team, This morning I have to use the batch processing, but it always crash Affinity Photo when I want to use it. I've uninstalled 3 times the app, but it have not solve the problem. I join you the crash report, I hope it will be usefull to help you to help me ( ^_^!) Thanks by advance batch crash report.txt
  7. The Batch Job feature in Affinity Photo is great, but one crucial feature that's missing is the ability to select multiple folders and subfolders and all the images inside automatically being added to the list. The whole idea of the Batch Job is to save time from manual labour, and sometimes having to go through tens of folders and subfolders and manually selecting all image files to be batch processed is a very manual and time consuming process. Thanks
  8. It’s great if AP app run in background. For example, when I merge 20 photos, it takes about 30 minutes on my iPad Air 2. When I change the app like facebook to check something and back to AP app, sometimes, AP app relaunch!!
  9. Hello Community, My question may seem too simple, but here it goes. I shoot in RAW and process my photos with Affinity Photo for Mac. I have recently been given guidelines for the photos I can post on my website, with minimum dimensions, dpi and crop ratios. I guess I was hoping someone could help me figure out how to meet these guidelines while processing. I know I can set a size, but sometimes the photos become to light on the dpi when I crop. I know I can try to fix this problem with my camera, but I hate to get great shots that are then ineligible when made to fit the guidelines. Any formulas, thoughts or help?
  10. I would love if you could add a way to process timelapse sequences shot in HDR so that if I merge the three exposures and edit them as a 32bits file I can select a folder that contains for example 300 frames (1 in 0EV, 1 in +3EV and 1 in -3EV) and batch the same way that Photomatix does. This is an example of a timelapse frame that I have never been able to process because of this slow process. Here it is https://500px.com/photo/48376766/perfect-sunset-at-%22el-remate%22-by-fabriccio-diaz-?from=user_library I would love to process a 720 (3 exposure = 240 blended frames) HDR Raw Sequence and not having to manually edit each frame!
  11. Just got AP and first impressions are v good (previously years of Photoshop use). Tried processing my first raw file however and the image has a dark vignette at the corners. Never had this problem in Photoshop so am initially surprised and at a loss as to what is causing it. Previews ok on my mac. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Apologies if this is posted in wrong section - am first time poster. Also am I correct in assuming there's no direct support, as I just got directed to the forums when I clicked on the support tab? I've attached a small jpeg of the file in question.

    Leica Q RAW

Hi, I have finally switched from Photoshop to Affinity and to my "disappointment" I have just noticed that when I am opening RAW files shot with my Leica Q that there are heavy lens distortions. Are there any presets or plugins that I could use to solve this issue? I would really love to use Affinity and give up my Adobe account, but until I can process my Leica files in Affinity I will be stuck with PS :/ Any idea how to handle this issue? Thank you so much for your help. Alexander
  13. Sometimes AP needs time to do things, from loading an image to doing a fancy transformation. When this happens, it appears as if the program has frozen. It would be nice if you could show a message somewhere to let me know it has not died but is working on something. It's also good psychology to say 'I'm doing this ... Now I'm doing that ...' so I can see how hard AP is working for me.
  14. I'm going to be as diplomatic as possible, but I'm also not going to sugar coat or be PC about things. While I absolutely LOVE Affinity Photo for what it does right, I am equally unsatisfied with what it doesn't do right at the same time. There's a real catch .22 I feel, with AP in that so many people have moved away from Adobe, singing praises that it is THE PS killer etc etc.. Especially for two distinct groups of people. The first group, are those who by principle, don't like being told that they don't own the software they paid for, and don't like being held hostage to a monthly subscription fee. Personally speaking, I think that as long as the company you're paying the sub fee to, listens to its user base, and offers an even return on the investment, that it's fine. But Adobe aren't really that great in those areas, IMO. The second group, whom are also a niche group *I happen to be one of them*, but growing in numbers annually, are Fuji Film users. We are dissatisfied with the way that Adobe/ACR does its demosaicing for sharpening, as it can literally ruin a shot. However.. That is not to say that ACR does a poor job in general when it comes to other basic RAW processing, because it doesn't. It actually does a great job with highlight and shadow recovery, kelvin, curves, contrast and noise reduction. It also does a great job with how it resizes and exports. It also has some really amazing tools, right inside of ACR, not even LR that people often overlook. But I digress. My point is coming... And here it is: For all of the things that ACR does right, I feel that Affinity photo has quite a ways to go when trying to match those features. I personally wouldn't touch Affinity for RAW processing with a 50 foot pole right now. It's.. well, not good. (See? Diplomatic) Since I've deleted LR/adobe stuff from my machine, I can't even compare it to the next best thing, which is Capture One Pro 10. Now that.. is software that pretty much gets those things right. I still think that LR does a better job with highlight recovery vs Capture One, but when compared to Affinity or On1 Photo RAW? No comparison, LR is still king, and the latter two stink on ice. Sorry, that was NOT diplomatic. In my ever so humble opinion, I can never ever recommend Affinity Photo to anyone wanting to get away from their current DAM such as LR/Capture One etc in favor of it. I just don't really see the point of even having the develop module in its current state. I know that's harsh, sorry. And while one can make the argument that you should just "get it right in camera", so that you don't have to mess with highlights or shadows or contr... Yeah, that's not very sensible. Those things exist for a reason. I guess that all I'm saying is that Affinity for the iPad will never be great, until AP for the desktop is much improved in those areas. After all, it has to look up to its big brother/sister, no? Concerned, Doug
  15. Hi, I have question about the Tone Mapping Persona tools which I really love. I would like to better understand what is happening under the hood when using Tone compression tool and Local Contrast. Usually for realizing what some tool does I use SliceTool in Nuke, which shows me what is happening with the curve after using the tool. On images below we see what tonemap tools do to the curve of the linear gradient ramp. Some results are pretty crazy like when local contrast is combined with Tone Processing. I thought that if I apply same curve as I got from Tone Processing with a normal Curve Adjustment I will get same result, which is not truth. Here is an example. I would like to know what is happening to the image under the hood with Tone Processing and Local Contrast. I am curious if this effect is possible to replicate with other adjustments or tools. For example lately I use 3DLut Creator with Affinity, I am interested if this effects are possible to recreate with tools in 3DLut Creator and save it to .cube file. If anybody knows more about this topic please enlighten me.
  16. Hey Guys, I would love some advice about workflow RE doing a Batch process in Affinity and then being able to fine tune each photo afterwards - to individually tweak the settings applied in the batch process. Any ideas? Thanks!
  17. I am new to Affinity Photo and maybe I am missing something. I cannot find an indicator showing the software is busy. Sometimes I wonder if the software is hung up. Is there a way to turn on a busy indicator. Tom

    RAW Processing

Been testing out AP for a couple of days now and there's a lot to love about it, especially for €40. Really like the way it processes RAW files, it's almost as good as Capture One and better than Photoshop. As a wedding photographer I can easily shoot thousands of images per day, which I narrow down to a couple of hundred. While I really like using AP, at the moment it's workflow is too slow - I know you have batch processing in the pipeline and that's eagerly awaited. What I'd ideally like is to be able to quickly see all files in a folder displayed on a scrollable dashboard, then by clicking on one to be able to see that larger and faff about with what adjustments I feel are necessary. Then to be able to click and copy ALL those adjustments, then click select similar images and apply those settings to those files. That would save me hours - which is where I'm losing time with AP at the moment. Obviously, I'd love to be able to batch output all these files together, rather than individually. It means i can work during the day making adjustments and output overnight or when I'm out on another shoot. Secondly, if i process a RAW file and save those adjustment settings- brightness/contrast/shadow/etc - as a preset why doesn't it also save adjustments to the colour temp? While I'm not sure of the advantage of saving separate presets for Basics, Lens, Details, Tones and Overlays over saving a preset with all those adjustments included - it means if i want to use the same settings of all those I have to create 5 presets and do 5 things where doing just one should be an option. It's not a big deal, but it would be nice to have as an option whether or not to collate multiple adjustment types as one preset. Lastly, for now anyway, once I process a RAW file I can export it as a TIFF. However, if I reopen that RAW file again it opens with its default camera settings and all my adjustments aren't to be found. I know Capture One and Photoshop open RAW files in the amended state with all the last adjustments displayed. Perhaps there's some way of view this, but I'm damned if i can find it. Aside from those quibbles I think you've done a massive job very well indeed. Mike.
  19. Hello! I'm quite stoked that Affinity Photo 1.5 now has batch processing. Working on a mac, I quickly went to test out this feature. It's great except that the Batch/Job UI could use a bit more love. It doesn't seem to like drag-and-drop a whole lot. I was hoping I could drag a folder or separate files into the task list but nothing threads up. I can only do by clicking through the file loader dialog. It would also be nice to have a batch process bar somewhere to get some kind of visual feedback somewhere, even if it's just a thin line or animated clock-sweep icon somewhere. All in all, great job, devs! I absolutely love your products and hope to see these improvements continue! Thanks!
  20. A white point panel which enables setting the white point. I don't really understand the use of the current white point panel. There is no tutorial about this crucial aspect of processing. So, feature request: white point set: click a Kodak grey card in your photo and have all colors reset a usage tutorial for this proposed feature, and a tutorial about the current white point panel - how best to workaround current limitations...

    RAW Processing

Hi, I tried to develop NEF-Files coming from a Nikon D610. The camera Profile is not shown (see screenshot 2) and AP does not convert the camera profile into the output profile. The result is much to red in comparison to the image developed by Nikon View NX (see screenshot 1). Can you help?
