  1. Following Workbook and got to London 2/HDR at Night exercise page 241. The Perspective Tool is clipping the image along the top corner handles. What am I doing wrong? Tried Tool on another image and got the same clipping result. Either I'm using the tool wrong (most likely) or the tool is broken. Any ideas? Using Affinity Photo for Mac 1.7.1 Thanks

  3. When will Affinity Designer get an object-distort tool, a perspective tool, a fisheye too or an inset/outset path tool? These are basic features for doing creative work, especially with display text (see attached jpg). As it is, if I need to do anything like this I have to use free open-source apps like Inkscape or NeoDraw (part of the NeoOffice suite), both of which are harder to use but do way more than Affinity Designer.
  4. Affinity software is awesome. But there seems to be a bug in the perspective tools a change that occurred today when setting the mode to source in both the single plane and dual plane. When I position the grid and I click apply in source mode it positions itself as if mirrored from the direction that I wish it to go. Earlier this morning it worked but when I worked with Affinity Photo this evening the behavior was in reverse when using source mode for both the Mesh Warp Tool and Perspective tool. When I checked the version it said I was on 1.7.1.404. The last time I remembered checking the version it was 1.7.1 I'm wondering if it updated today with this bug. To verify it wasn't my settings I reset everything to default but the problem still exist. I was hoping that it was an error I made in my preferences but so far it seems like a bug. I was wondering if others with version 1.7.1.404 are experiencing the same issue. If its a bug I hope it is fixed right away. Perhaps someone can describe whats happening. I'm sure its an easy fix. Thanks in advance. Just realized that this was in the designer forums but subject should be in Affinity Photo forum.
  5. I'm trying to learn affinity photo and affinity designer. I need to use the warp tool and perspective tool but can't find it on my programs and can't find anywhere to down load them. We downloaded tutorials on how to use them but it does me no good without the tools and I can't find any customer support, not saying their isn't any just cant find it either? I need help, thanks
  6. I believe there is a bug with the Perspective tool. I use both Designer and Photo since its inception, and I am happy with what I can do with them, although there are some limitations, and the first one that I need it fixed is the perspective tool Here is what I have found: I am trying to design a Siemens Star, for the purpose of producing our test chart. Since it is not possible to create a triangle which changes the gradation from white to black proportional to the distance from the centre, I thought I found a way to create first just simple vertical strips with linear gradation, one half on the left peaking in 100% black colour, and the other half on the right peaking to 100% white (please refer to the attached screen-shots for better understanding). From there, it should be straight forward job to use the Perspective tool at the bottom of the rectangular strips and marge them to the bottom centre. It all goes good until I touch the two ends, left and right, in the middle. The whole image then disappears and only the mesh stays to indicate the required perspective. Where do the graded stripes disappear (image stage 4)??? Is there any other way I can create section of sine wave "pizza-slice" with continuous gradation proportional to the edges of the triangles??? P.S. Working on our test chart, I have also found, this time in Designer, that the black level intensity (when measured with the pick tool) is inconsistent with the RGB pick tool. For example, if using 8-bit colours, the 10% white (90% black) when measuring in RGB mode, should measure 25 binary units of each primary colours (R, G and B), but this is not the case. If I make a rectangle with 25 binary units of R, G and B, the Grey level pick tool measures 12 units of white, instead of 10. Similarly, the RGB of 50, measures 21 units of white, further intensities of white, get converted correctly, so the very low end of white (high end of black) when measured with the pick tool in Grey mode is incorrect relative to its RGB pick tool measurements.
  7. I'm experiencing a weird flashing and distortion issue when using the Perspective Tool. When an image layer is selected and the Perspective tool is active while adjusting the Opacity in Layers, there is a shuddering distortion and flashing of the image when sliding the Opacity slider at the same time. Also occurs when using the Warp Mesh Tool I cannot capture this behavior in a screen shot.
  8. Hi all, Sorry if this has already been covered somewhere, but I was not able to find anything. Basically I have a layer with a mask applied to it. I want to transform the layer using the perspective tool, and I want that transformation to apply to the mask as well. I can scale/rotate the layer, and the mask follows, but for the perspective tool this does not seem to work. Can this be done?
  9. As a FreeHand jockey whose 32-bit MacBook Pro finally went to its reward, AD is exactly what I've been looking for. So far, the beta performs beautifully. Very few problems. Amazingly stable for a beta… Huge kudos to AD developers for this wonderful program! When it's released, I'll be the first in line. The FreeHand tools (or facsimiles) I'm hoping for include: Add points & simplify points Envelope warping (or some kind of object-distortion tool) 3D rotation (perspective tool) Fisheye lens Roughen effect Expand Stroke, Stroke to path & Inset path Text flow around objects, along paths & flow between text boxes Multiple pages, with a scratch area for layout design work A lot to expect, I know. But when Affinity Designer can do these things, then it really is adios, Illustrator... I've heard that AD developers may be working on opening Freehand files. If so, then I DO believe in Santa Claus! Also, IMHO, pro-level CYMK prepress isn't a big priority since the vast majority of users (even Illustrator users) don't do 4-color publishing. Thanks again for filling a big hole in the Mac vector sphere...
  10. If I use the perspective distort tool on a layer that has a mask I cannot see that there is any way to make the tool affect the layer and mask together. This is a real hassle to any workflow that has images with masked layers.
  11. Just thought I should report a curious problem I have encountered in A.Photo when using the perspective tool to partially correct verticals when using a very wide lens. I use the perspective tool set to source and all seems well.... until on a couple of occasions I have switched back to the Develop persona to make small changes with the overlay feature. I use Edge Aware. The Bug is that on two occasions I have tried to paint a person only to find the edge aware red mask showing a vertical line - as if when correcting the verticals, the picture has not been fully rendered. I have attached a file in which I have shown the problem by cranking up the exposure on the affected part to highlight it... Regards to all

  13. Hello, I have a pixel layer selected, clicked the Perspective Tool, the grid appears, but when i adjust the corners of the grid my layer doesn't follow the adjustment (even after clicking 'apply'). switched between 'source' and 'destination' and still nothing. the perspective tool has worked fine for me before but today it just died. any thoughts? same issue when i tried adjusting text.
  14. Hello, I cannot open an AD 1.5.1 saved file in AP 1.4.3. Why I need to do this: I often use AP for its perspective/warp tool since AD (my primary software) unfortunately doesn't yet have it. It's part of my work flow so simply exporting the layer I want to warp as an image isn't a solution as I also need my construction lines that are on various layers. It's a back and forth process. If I reinstall a previous version I will not be able to open work completed in 1.5..? I was really excited about AD 1.5 because I was told this version was to have the perspective/warp tool. Thanks, Paige
  15. Here is a brand new lesson for Affinity Photo. In this tutorial we look at placing text/logo in perspective using Affinity Photo. We look at using 3 examples. https://youtu.be/jv3szSbyu80 Go be creative and show us your results. Allan
