  1. . . . that graphic was designed with Affinity and shows how my car looked like back in the 70ties 😎
  2. I have a Mid 2012 Macbook Pro with a NVIDIA GeForce GT 650M 1024 MB Intel HD Graphics 4000 1536 MB In Affinity Designer only the Intel graphics card is available for hardware acceleration but not the NVIDA card, is there a way to fix this?
  3. just a few more graphics created with Affinity Designer - learning and improving skills from day to day 🙂
  4. Hi, I’ve got a strange graphical issue on mouse hovering (more precisely happening when the mouse goes out of the button) and I can't figure it out! OS : Windows 11 PC is a Dell G5 5000 (Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-10700F CPU @ 2.90GHz 2.90 GHz // Nvidia RTX 3070) I've got a similar issue with one other software (Wally from ZSA, a keyboard flashing tool for QMK), which seems wierd I've got the same issu in Affinity Publisher I'd be glad if you'd had any idea 🙂 2021-12-27 13-48-46.mp4
  5. I wanted to create a twenty page booklet in publisher. Set up the document, created four master pages, copied text and graphics across and then I realised I had hit A3 instead of A5 So I went to spread and converted it to A5, but I found I also had to change the master pages to A5. All went well or so I thought, but I started getting not responding messages, some lasting ten seconds or more. Had something been created in the file as a result of my error, which was causing these problems? OH also I found that copying and pasting graphics resulted in the graphic in publisher being distorted widthwise. Is there any reason for this? Colin Goss
  6. Interested in computers, graphics, animations, games, vr, interactives and internet? Computer graphics, animations and interactions are now self-evident. You just have to pick up your smartphone, tablet, desktop computer or what else and you feel intuitively when you have to swipe, click, drag or pinch zoom. You also expect nothing less than nice interfaces with smooth animations. But it wasn't always like this... There were times where there were no editors like Photo and Designer, nor Illustrator, nor Photoshop, and even computers and animations of frames didn't exist... I wrote a blog series of six where I like to take you on a journey through time with our focus on learning about the development before and during the creation of computers, digital graphics, animations, graphical interfaces, graphics software, interactivity, 3D, a pinch of the first games, the creation of the internet and a touch of virtual reality. I have made more than 110 illustrations for this series with Affinity Designer and also provide each part with at least one interactive to bring the events alive as good as possible for you. Part 1 is out there now! Hope you like it and I'm sure you learn something new from it and be surprised by some events! There will be a new part every month from now. Enjoy! 7. There is a long and old thread on this topic already, but I'm not convinced its been getting any attention, so I'm starting a new topic because this problem is infuriating. 2020, and still having the same blurry images problem. There is something weird about the way Affinity is handling pixels. I don't know how to explain this, but when you use different resolutions in photoshop the zoom ratios when working with the image are different-100% at 300 dpi is way bigger than 100% at 72 dpi. When you do it in Affinity they are all the same across the board. 300 dpi looks the same as 72 dpi. Its infuriating. I'm trying to make web graphics and no matter what resolution I create them at they come out looking blurry AF at small pixel sizes. For example, I'm trying to upload a logo at 150 px by 150 px. 300 dpi looks exactly the same as 72 dpi. Like, really blurry. Like someone who has never touched graphics software before in their life created them. I've been doing this for almost 20 years now. Usually, in Photoshop if you create your file at the size you need for application it comes out clear, that doesn't seem to happen in Affinity. I can't afford Photoshop, but these results are completely unprofessional. I've even tried going back to my designer files and scaling them down, wondering if anti-aliasing in AffinityPhoto was a factor, but it makes no difference. Is Affinty EVER going to address this? HOW do you make crisp web image files with Affinity???
  8. I am posting this feedback in this section of the forum, I hope this help to improve the software Not going to talk about the bugs, I hope all of them get fixed I am going to compare my experience with other softares, such as Adobe Illustrator, Inkscape (the ones I use the most) For the few time I have used the software I can tell is very minimalistic, (I really hope this is not because the Ipad version limitations, as PC can do much more than a Ipad, so I hope PC version is not being limited to keep in the same quality of the Ipad version) Or maybe is the way the software is going to be, as it could be a minimalistic software not planned to have advanced features, I would like to know which kind of software Affinity Designer aim to be, minimalistic or advanced? Developer team care for both personas this mean less time to focus to improve designer persona and possibly priorize pixel persona over vector persona (The software is meant to be a vector graphic software, rather than a raster graphic software) The exporting persona is not intuitive and does not have much more to offer than the traditional exporting in the user menu The software have very few settings and some of them are not compatible with SVG format (The standard file format for vector graphics) The software have very few tools and some of them are not compatible with SVG format (The standard file format for vector graphics) There are very few tools for vector graphics, and the customization for them are very tricky and not intuitive & limited _ What I suggest is to focus on introducing new tools&features&settings to work with vector graphics and improve the ones that the software already have Currently I don`t use this software because of the limitations exposed, as other vector graphic software have to offer much more optimized tools&features for vector format (SVG), I really hope it get more complexity eventually as for now it is not a stand alone software for its limitations & few features for vector graphics.
  9. In both Affinity Photo and Affinity Designer 171 on Mac OS X Lion creating a new document results in the striped art-board as shown in the pics below (the top - Affinity Photo, the bottom - Affinity Designer). In 1.6.x versions of both apps there're no such artifacts. Update. Apparently I was wrong for the worst: I keep old versions too so it happens when (1) I Iaunch either of AP and AD 1.7.1 (2) after opening newer versions when I launch the old AP for the first time those stripes are even in the old version. The next time I launch the older versions (both apps) it's OK however I see these glitches in the newer ones every time I create a new doc. It's too confusing even to get these issues described and reeks of polishing. As of now, slow down adding newer features, focus on ironing out bugs and performance. I hope serif staff is reading these threads. Update 2. I rebooted into Mavericks partition where I also have these 2 apps installed but 1.6. not 1.7. I can confirm that what I thought to be occasional hiccups in Lion have turned out to be a regular pattern both in 1.7 and 1.6 but only in Lion. In Mavericks creating new documents is smooth and I guess it's true for High Sierra although I haven't tested it yet since I work rarely in it. To developers of both apps: since the minimal supported OS X is declared to be 10.7, please optimize them for it as well. I understand that in might not to be fun to work with implementing features and improvements for such «awfully outdated», «antiquated» operating system but for those that for various reasons still run this «antiquated» OS and since you touted AD/AP to work across OS of different state of freshness we would be grateful to you if our UX lived up to these empowering promises. Thank you.
  10. I've had this issue for several versions now, wondering if it's a problem with the software or if perhaps there's something wrong with my graphics card. Posting here to see if anyone else has had a similar issue. Not always, but every once-in-a-while, I will get slight 'offsets' or skews on screen. The attached screenshot (full-size so that you can see what I mean) shows the breaks (look at the vertical middle of the letters) Usually it goes away if I close Photo and re-start it, which makes me think perhaps it's the software and not my video card, but I am not sure. Another interesting tidbit is that the 'breaks' stay the same when I zoom in (or out) and pan (see second image). Is this a known issue? Or one that other people sometimes encounter? Or is it likely to be my own system? Thanks!
  11. Ok I think I have casually requested this but haven't actually added it to the forum. Im looking into a graphics tablet, however I started to look at tablet with a screen, then it sprung to mind that an iPad is way cheeper with (probably) and much better screen and way a better os. Now I don't know if this is possible but could an iPad be used with the addition of an app? (bolt on sale for you chaps here) Live screen action would be fantastic or sketches be send to Affinity designer on completion?
  12. Hey everyone! I just recently obtained AD, and I am completely new to any graphic designer software. I have been using AP for the past couples year though. My question is, how do a enlarge an EPS file and export. When I attempted to do this on my own the canvas does not expand with the image(See screen shot). Any help is appreciated!
  13. Hi there. I have to do several floor plans for an architectural firm, I would like to know where can I find resources, free or commercial, for such kind of designs. Thanks!
  14. Can we have a video editor/composer by Affinity as we already have one by Serif(& It has closed it's development)...!? :^)
  15. Affinity Is The Best of All...But it would be good if we could edit & compose motion image like GIF...Can we get this in future update...!? :^) or I'm just pushing You guys in trouble...!!! :^(
  16. Hi everyone, one short question... When i read the system requirements for AD i found this: Wacom (and other WinTab devices) support I have an "XP Pen Star 04" tablet. Does AD (and AP) work with this tablet? Thanks and greetings from vienna Martin
  17. I just decided to get an entry graphics tablet. I do a little photo retouching with APh, and some of my design work in AD is quite repetive, so I can see a tablet with express keys coming in handy. Does anyone have experience with the UGEE M1000L it's a 4000 lpi. made by Huion, a smaller model to the popular 1060 Plus (5080 lpi). [EDITED] The deal was ending, so I just bought it anyway. Pease still respond, as I am still interested in members' observations and/or experiences. Is this tablet enough to get my feet wet? I have a 13" MacBook, but plan to get a 27" iMac soon. Would this size tablet be ok for MacBook for now? Also, are there any unique features of the Wacom Intuos models that I would not get with this model that I may find useful with AD and/or AP? To advanced revellers: compliments of the new year Michael [EDIT] updated
  18. Hello, i realized all version of affinity designer crash when the app is running on integrated graphic card like Intel HD4600 in my case. I really don't know if the problem causing the designer or driver in Windows 10. I installed latest driver version for this GPU (part of my Core i7 4810HQ CPU in Acer Aspire Nitro V15) and it didn't fix this. There is no solution if you have no separated GPU. I have the Nvidia 860M, so i switch Intel HD to Nvidia 860M in Nvidia Control Panel and it works perfectly stable. For those who experience the same issue, try it, it should help. Tomas
  19. I have downloaded the trial version of Affinity Designer on my mac and seriously considering to replace Adobe Illustrator with AD. So far I have done some comic inking illustrations, a couple logo design and some coloured illustrations and I find the app amazing. I find Affinity Design the best App so far for inking purpose in vector. I have tried inking in illustrator, corel painter, Manga studio, photoshop. For raster I like Manga Studio but for vector AD is definitely the best. Though I miss some features of Adobe illustrator for example Auto trace, eye dropper tool, 3D extrude, blend tool to mention. Still Affinity Designer's price is so attractive that it lures an illustrator/designer like me living in India. I hope Affinity will come up with alternatives for premiere pro and after effects also. Thanks
  20. I am aged 78 and have been teaching seniors how to use PC computers since 1999, the aim being to show them how to impress their friends, relatives and neighbours. One program stood out - Serif PagePlus - fantastic, and I regretted there was nothing like it for Macs. Now Serif has produced Affinity Designer, and I am giving it a trial. However, in producing a newsletter for my students, and others, to show what it can do, I am bemused [?] that I can find no templates [they would use calendars, visiting cards, greetings cards .....], no graphics [PagePlus has a fantastic collection] and no ability to prepare a document with more than one page. I am not computer illiterate, but I am getting on in years - am I missing something? Or if I am not missing anything, is there any chance of these features appearing in the near future? I do have several Mac DTPs which do all of these things, but Affinity Designer almost leaves them all for dead - almost.
  21. I was wondering if anyone has looked into this yet as a graphics tablet? Concept sounds interesting, think it could work with Affinity at some point? Here is there website: http://www.sensel.com
  22. I've owned both Affinity Photo and Designer for a while now, and after finally having enough of Adobe, PS, LR, AI, etc... I've decided to really work A-Photo and A-Designer, to really see if I can finally replace the "other guys" for good. So far, I've only found a few things that I can do in PS that I can't do in AP. But overall, it's just a simple matter of learning how to get around some interface differences. There are features I wish/hope to see in future releases of AP, but as of now, I'm a loyal fan, owner, and user of these great apps. Attached is a fake MMA promo I made for no other reason than to try to create something I had previously created in PS. Overall, my only hang-up was just getting to know the interface a bit better. And of course how AP handles certain operations differently than PS. I was able to work faster in AP that I have been able to in PS, which is a huge plus. AP seems faster, snappier, and more responsive. PS has become very laggy over the past year or so, and I find myself using it less and less as time goes on... well, I imagine I'll be using it almost never at this point. :) Here it is, the fake MMA Promo. Photography and graphics are all done by me, the photo was processed months ago in LR, exported out as a JPEG. Everything else is AP.
  23. Just discovered Affinity as I'm searching for a more affordable option for my business than Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator. All of the company computers are Apple Mac's and Affinity seems perfect. Currently I design our product labels using PS5. The background of the label is simply a single colour on both sides with white in the middle, but made using the gradient tool, so that it gives the appearance of wrapping around the container. I just can't figure out how to use the gradient tool in Affinity. Is there anyone who can kindly point me in the right direction please? I hope so, because I want to buy Affinity but need to be certain I can use it before I do.
  24. I don't know if this is the right place to post this but. How about a page for your artists to post samples of their work they have done with your software. I don't see any links on your site leading to a page for that.
