  4. I don't know if anyone has noticed this bug but if you create an artistic text letter R,B,P,D and convert it to curves to create a vector object. Then clone that object with a CTRL drag. Select the cloned object and flip it horizontally. Then bring them together, so the stalk overlaps to give a mirrored, merged effect. Then select both images and use the geometry add function, the objects do not join as expected. The one on the right fills in the hole in the R, B, P, D but leaves the object on the left as is. I have included a document for you to try and replicate this for yourself. The object on the left is what the add function should do (created in DrawPlus). All you have to do is select both of the objects on the right and select geometry add function. This bug also occurs in Affinity Designer. Geometry bug.afpub

  6. These black irregularities represent glitch shapes that appear after dividing any shapes that overlap multiple times (doesn't happen if circles are placed sequentially, meaning each shape overlaps only one other shape). Looks like they are divided one by one, so shapes at the center divide multiple times creating more and more glitches. It would explain why the glitches are concentrated in that area, and why the same happens when I try to divide shapes in pairs for the same result as dividing them all at once. I hope the situation is explained well with my limited English. I'm pretty sure I don't need to attach the exact file, because the same thing can be easily recreated with any 3+ shapes when they have areas where there are more than 2 shapes overlapping.
  7. Howdy friends! I was building a few vector shapes for a design and playing with the Geometry options to "knock out" overlapping parts of the shapes, etc. At some point I inadvertently hit the "XOR" function in the Geometry toolbar, and … well, it brought up a slowly pulsating "Xor" progress bar on top of the window. There's no option to cancel or dismiss it; I can't edit or do anything with the document while it's there; and I've tried Escape, Return, control-C, command-C, option-C, and a bunch of other keystrokes to try to kill the process. It's been running for several minutes now … I selected a few objects but I don't think it was anything THAT complex to take so long to figure out? I could kill the app, but … well, that would lose a few minutes work, and … is this normal? Thanks!
  8. Hi I have been looking for a tutorial on the use of the geometry tool. Can anyone advise on its use?
  9. Pop Up Affinity Photo Tutorial This is a pop up photo manipulation, but I thought I would change it up by adding some floating graphics from the background. The tutorial uses shapes, geometry, blend ranges (blend-if) perspective and more. This Digitally Fearless Affinity Photo tutorial was requested by one of my subscribers. https://youtu.be/z1_drshbedo
  10. Hi, can I let the alpha channel of the fill color of 2 paths (each on an own layer) be operated with by a selected mask operation such as subtract? How? Thanks, u&i

  12. Hello World, Thank you Affinity, your product is amazing. I will be sharing this work on LinkedIn mentioning Affinity Products. You can also check it on YouTube as well. Almost forgot, you can also use the slider yourself to draw haha I am still testing it though. give it a shot https://boroji.com/test/index.html Thank you again, Keep up the good work Geometric_Pattern-Timelapse.mp4

  14. Hey folks, I'm just wondering what' the difference between the two options in the Layer → Geometry menu. At first glance they both seem to have the same function – maybe someone can enlighten me? 💡 Cheers and … wash your hands MrDoodlezz 😄
  15. Hi, i have some problem, and probably im not the only one. When im try to merge two paths or subtract one path from another path, happens some kind chaos. It all started in version 1.8, in 1.7 everything was fine. I am very worried that I will have to rollback, because the new version has a photo bank, good work of extended stroke and other features. Help me or fix it, please🙏 The video shows the problem. Sorry for my english, im from Russia ☺️
  16. I hope that I can describe the problem correctly. I am working on a logo, which should consist of the letters O and K. The K should be in front of the O, as well as behind the O. After I drew an ellipse, which should represent the O, and converted it to a donut, I wrote the K over it with the Artistic Text Tool. Next, I selected the two layers (the layer with the ellipse is on top) and used the geometry function divide. Then I deleted protruding parts from the K and colored other parts that should be displayed above the ellipse. Unfortunately very fine lines are always displayed. I don't know how I can prevent this. Can anyone help me? For clarification I have exported a PNG and I also provide my afdesign file. ok.afdesign
  17. Hello everyone! I have opened this thread with the intention of recommending an improvement in geometry tools, generally I have used Adobe illustrator and corel Draw although more corel draw than illustrator xD in fact by the simplicity of their tools especially those of fusion and trimming, I explain... Having two or more objects and wanting to make an intersection is usually the area where the intersection is formed and the rest is eliminated, isn't it? in corel the intersection creates a new object (of that intersection) leaving intact the two selected elements, this is very useful to illustrate human figure where sometimes we do not want to lose the elements and rather create a new one. Another tool and I think that of the best is the back less front and less front behind, usually seems absurd, say (hey but for that I can place the object in front and subtract it from the back, but believe me the practicality of having two buttons summarizes a few steps and is quite comfortable. and maybe I say it from the perspective of a user who uses mostly coreldraw, but every designer who has tried those tools feels that all other programs should have the same function. (that's what I said when I tried several corel things and decided to change my software) affinity has a great power!! ahhh and forgot to recommend you to use flat icons, I don't know why but I think the user experience could improve a little with them. Greetings!
  18. Hi, just a quick question: Could anyone confirm if the name for the Geometry icon label is the same now for the Mac and PC versions? Formerly they had different names "Geometry" for Mac and "Operations" for Windows. I am on a mac, so I'd need to know if this is now consistent or if I should prevent users about this when explaining the UI. Thanks!
  19. Hi. I would like to know if there is anything in Affinity designer like the Adobe Illustrators transform effect? (See video below) I am wanting to make complex geometric patterns. I know about power duplicate in affinity but it seems like there is far much more control with the transform tool in Illustrator, plus it saves a lot of time. I have posted an example video below from Adobe Illustrator, this is what I am looking to do. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kCwmEfCsPdw&t=328s Can any one point me in the right direction? Or are we limited to power duplicate in Affinity designer/photo? Any ideas/help will be appreciated! Thank you for your time. Dan.
  20. I posted a separate thread about issues with a drawing that disappeared when I performed ExpandStrokes/Add/Divide. I tried a completely new drawing and when I try the same sequence, the Geometry Add action enters an infinite loop and never completes. I tried on the Mac and the same thing happened as well. Has something changed in this area recently? It’s kind of unworkable now... blob-06.afdesign
  21. The algorithms for some of the geometry tools seem to be slightly off when calculating where the finishing shapes should be. In the video, I placed a blue circle under the red one to show that the combined shapes to be divided before I do it don't match the combined shapes after I hit "Divide." geometry_tool_problem1.mp4
  22. Hi all, I am trying to create a drop shadow for text but when it comes to subtracting the layers needed that overlap, both layers delete. I have read a few posts on here, with replies from moderator MEB (QA Support) but none seem to be able to verify my problem in particular. I have expanded stroke of outline text to shapes instead of lines as to not incur a boolean operation, but even still I cannot seem to get the two layers that are both shapes to subtract from each other and be left with a sweet ass drop shadow to my text. I have followed along to a few tutorials by 7th Season Studios on youtube but those tutorials are from the older version. If someone would be able to help me and even suggest some channels on youtube for designer tutorial channels of the latest 2019 version I would appreciate it greatly. Thank you very much for your time and your help.
  23. I'm running into a problem when making an intersecting compound. Basically, the German Flag seems to shift to the point where you can only see the bottom third or so (see video). I've used this function many times and have never seen this before. Affinity_Designer_6_29_2019_10_03_10_PM.mp4
