    Zooming / canvas bug

Often (about 75% of the time) when I load in a jpg or png to start with on my project the actual document shows up in only a corner of the "canvas" when really the image is taking up the full space. You can see below how when I zoom in and out at different levels it: - sometimes fill up only part of the canvas area - sometimes fills up whole canvas area - sometimes glitches out with random squares appearing in different areas I'm running MacOS latest 10.13.2 Affinity Photo 1.6.6
  2. (Maybe I'm not finding it, then it is overly complicated and that's to be addressed.) But I'm missing the possibility to do such: if you have multiple layers and all are visible you can click on the little checkbox on the right to make that one layer invisible. But sometimes you want to see only the one you are working on. Instead of clicking 100 layers invisible there could be the option (like in other pro music software for example) to alt-click (or some other modifier key) to de-view all layers but the one the click was made on.

  4. PS is head and shoulders above AP in the layers palette. I love being able to change the size of the icon and, more importantly, to see the painted areas on the layer mask as in the attached. Any chance of adding this to the next generation? I'm trying to turn off my Adobe subscription but things like this are keeping me from it. Thanks! Phil
  5. I double-click on the Zoom tool in order to view my jpeg file in real size at 100% and for some reason it appears much smaller in my Affinity Photo application. Everything indicates that it should be at 100% but it does not appear on my screen as such.
  6. Hi. I like to have a shortcut available to reset rotation since it happened many times to me , i design mostly with my MacBook pro on the go, (thanks to your software i can even get work done on my girlfriend's base model 12 inch, god bless you guys for that.) and i rotate the screen accidentally , i'd like a fox for that. i know a bit about US so i suggest 3 ways to approach this issue: 1. Tiny Pop Up button on the side of the screen, to appear whenever the the screen is not adjusted. (this doesn't have to be on AP since thats mostly work done on photo but on the other hand, for experience consistency i would suggest that to be tried at least.) 2. pop up button available on touch bar whenever canvas is rotated. 3. keyboard shortcut. Thanks guys

  9. While using a polygonal or magnetic lasso tool for detailed selection, the View Tool shortcut (space) doesn't work. If space is held, the image can be moved as normal but the selection (ants) will no longer be visible until space is released. Space + Ctrl doesn't work at all, i.e. zooming in and out while the selection is unfinished is impossible.
  10. The option to display 100% full screen when pressing the TAB key. Right now, the menu displays at the top. Photoshop has this as one of its modes when pressing the F key.
  11. Is it possible to show whitespaces like spaces, tabstops and line breaks? I can’t find an option or toggle for this.
  12. Hello everyone! When rotating the view in Affinity Photo 1.5.1 (I am using the Macbook Pro (OSX 10.11.6) trackpad's rotate gesture to do this), the behaviour of the brush size scaling will be changed when trying to access it using the shortcut (ctrl+alt+left click and drag). When rotating the view by 180°, the scaling seems to be inverted: Without rotation: - click and drag to the right increases brush size, dragging to the left decreases its size. - click and drag down increases hardness, dragging up decreases hardness. With about 180° rotation: - click and drag to the right decreases brush size, dragging to the left increases its size. - click and drag down decreases hardness, dragging up increases hardness. When the view is rotated by nothing close to 0° or 180°, the scaling and hardness changes seemingly like crazy. Is this to be expected? Is this a bug? I can imagine, the shortcut just isn't modified to work with view rotation as it shouldn't rotate along with the view. Best wishes, Shu
  13. Hello guys! An interesting and welcome addition to Affinity Photo would be something like a ‘split view for comparison’. A way to compare and edit versions (or Snapshots) of an image without having to duplicate it and use Separated Mode or toggle between tabs. An example would be when I apply the ‘Curves’ and ‘Soft Proof’ adjustment layer to an image to prepare it for print. I would like to have one window where I can see the original and another window right next to it, preferably optionally mirrored, with the adjustment layers active to edit and compare it to the original image (or Snapshot or state when I entered this split view mode). I think the basic elements for this feature are already available in Photo (i.e. Snapshot) and it comes down to the ability to arrange (and mirror or split) your windows/views. The ability to arrange windows (tabs) next to each other without having to enter Separated Mode would be a valuable addition and to a large extent fulfill this feature request. What do you think?
  14. (sorry for the english) Hi, one of the tools I use most on photoshop is the Pattern overlay, to do this kind of work (attached). Would be great to have this on af Photo. I tried to use the one that already have on the software, but I couldn't achieve the same result as the pattern overlay in photoshop
  15. Hello everyone! I'd like to request a feature: When selecting View -> Toggle UI, all of the UI will be hidden, which can be really great. The only problem that I am running into sometimes: I don't know which tool I have currently selected. Could you please include an option to let the user show the tools window even when "Toogle UI" hides all the other UI? Or maybe even better: Just show the one icon of the tool that is currently selected. The confusion especially happens when you have to cycle through tools. For example, for the "Pixel tool", you have to press B twice for "Colour Replacement Brush Tool" three times and for "Smudge Brush Tool" four times. Personally, I run into this especially when I don't know which tool is currently selected. For example, the eraser (E) is selected, but I think the brush (B) is selected. Then, I press E to select the eraser. Then it doesn't select the eraser, but rather the background eraser. Best wishes, Shu
  16. Hi, This is my first time posting a bug, so bare with me! Just purchased my Windows license. Well done guys on working so hard! Everyone's behind you :) Doing a very quick test, I notice that the image rendering pixelates temporarily while the brush is being applied to the canvas. The pixelated view also tends to happen while most editing is being applied. Even moving the cursor near an applied brush stroke causes the painting to pixelate temporarily like this. Is there something that can mitigate this? While the pixelated view is relatively minor for most tasks, it would be a real hindrance when working on a digital painting or editing photos in fine detail (i.e. a dodge & burn touch-up,etc)... If you need more info, please ask, thanks! John _______________________________ Tested on a Dell xps 17 Core i7 Q740 Graphics Nvidia GT GeForce 445M 12gb ram Affinity Photo 1.5.0.45
  17. I´m currently again searching for an image viewer for Mac. I still have Bridge which is fine but I will cancel Adobe CC subscription at the end of the year. With LilleG I talked about PhaseOne MediaPro (thanks for the nice explanations!) which would probably do the job but is not really cheap, and it won´t get any data handling benefits with the other Affinity products as an Affinity viewer could....I could also buy Lightroom as well but that´s not really where I want to spend my money right... I took a look at the following products: Lyn - it looks promising, but when I downloaded the test version, the preview has a lag of 1s for every picture (20mb jpg) which is just really annoying in my opinion (checked the same folder with bridge and it was fast as expected) Xee - even cheaper and even less functions but would have been totally ok with that at the moment - BUT preview is still not fast, it´s faster than Lyn but get´s a short spinning wheel every two pictures and that really interrupts going though the pictures Picasa - ...would be an option and I did a quick google search to check if my problem is valid: - fullscreen viewing is only possible in presentation mode, but you can´t delete pictures in presentation mode lOS X build in Viewer - in list view you can go through the pictures with the arrow keys and also delete them but it´s not fullscreen Affinity Photo Viewer - well, I don´t have any use for these thumbnail views at all, currently opening pictures from my folder structure (the preferred way would be - from a real Affinity viewer) there has to be some appropriate software for these needs which does not have to be a huge DAM in the very first place... So would´t it be possible to offer a proper image browser for mac? really .... "praying" -_- EDIT: Apple Photos/ iPhoto - the last place where I would want to store more than 200 pictures, just way inflexible file system IMO
  18. On the promo video, it shows artwork being designed in one window and it being overlayed on a shoe that is 3D. I have tried to find how this is done. Any suggestions?
  19. Hi, In Designer I'd love to see a key command to hide the geometry (nodes and Bézier curves/lines) of the selected object, and just show the printable art. Without deselecting. I used this all the time with The Competition. Pressing Spacebar is ok for a quick look, but when you're experimenting with effects or different brushes/strokes/gradients, the curves & nodes are just distracting. Thanks! - pbass
  20. I m a fairly new user of Affinity and still learning the many features of the program, but am enjoying the experience nonetheless. There is one area that is causing me some frustration. When I open a raw file (select, File., open and file that I have exported to Affinity specific folder), I can perform most editing functions from the options on the right panel. However, after watching I training video about using a layer and sharpening mask i went to open either "Layer" or "Filter" from pull down menu, but both options were not present. Without a file open, My menu shows from left to right: File, Edit, Text, Layer, Document, Select, Arrange, Filters, View, Window, Help. With a file open the Menu show: File, Edit, View, Window, Help. (see attached screen shot) Of course with the few options I am limited to what I can do. Any ideas? All options on Studio are checked and have been reset, but I understand they relate to the right panel anyway. Any help would be most welcome.
  21. Ever since canvas rotation was added, I've lost count of how many times I've had to reset the rotation after having accidentally rotated the view. Although it is good to be able to view an image at different angles while editing, it can get frustrating to constantly rotate the view when all you're trying to do is zoom in or out. I think that there should be an option to lock rotation so you don't accidentally rotate the view. This would make things a lot easier for me, as it seems every time I zoom in, my image ends up askew and I have to reset rotation before I can get on with my work.
  22. Hi, there's an off-by-one bug when displaying artworks at exactly 100% size. This can be a bit confusing during icon design work. Steps to Reproduce: 1. Create a new document with 64 x 64 pixel size 2. Create a rectangle with exact 62 x 62 pixel size (e.g. by utilising the pixel grid snapping) 3. Place this rectangle at x=1, y=1 (assuming coords start at 0) so there's a 1 pixel border around the rectangle 4. Switch to 100% view via menu: "View" -> "100%" Result: Part of the border around the rectangle is cut-off and not displayed (usually bottom-right) Expected Result: Full image displayed, no border cut-off.
  23. Hi, I am trying to design a pice of print work. For this I have to switch to CYMK. When I add a photo to my design ( which is RGB based ) the app converts it to CYMK leaving flat, dull colors. Yet in the CYMK Dropbox there are various items like US Coated, Japan Coated, Web coated etc. When my design is seelcted to CMYK it defauls to Generic CMYK. ( Dull colors ) Yet when I select any of the other " paper" sorts like Japan or US Coated, the vibrancy of the colors comes back looking like RGB. Hmm...weird... The weirdness continues. When I now swicth back to Generic CYMK , the vibrant colors stay on the screen. So...how " accurate" is this thing ? Attached are the views I get from Generic CYMK and Us Sheetfed Coated ( whatever that is ) See the differences in that ? So what am I to do so my design will look nice and vibrant when printed , not dull and colorless ? Any advice on this bug is highly appreciated. Peter
