Possibly already mentioned somewhere but how do I reset all tools and or brushes to default? -
On a 13" MBP 13" with default resolution (1280x800) the bottom end of the Tools are not visible if docked. I couldn't find something to click on, that the Tools will be docked in double columns. Appreciate any help, many thanks in advance! Cheers, Roland -
In working with Affinity Photo (MAC, 5.1), I usually used the selection brush. Today I realized I don't have the freehand selection tool. The Help search does not help. -
Dear AD developers team As a new customer using Affinity Designer, after using Illustrator from version 7, I miss some tools. I understand Affinity Designer is a young application and it can't have all the tools a software like Illustrator has. But I hope my request to be fullfilled. My needs: What I mostly do (did) with Illustrator, is create simple graphics, with a maximum of 3 colors. Most of the work consist of clean and create closed paths that I'll work later on a CNC. Here are some of my most used tools. The "Magic Wand" is very useful and it one of my most used tools. I've not been able to find it in AD, if it's there. I can live without the "Shape Builder Tools". Before Adobe introducing this tool, I used a combination of Divide, Magic Wand, Unite. Mostly to create a closed shape for each color. Other commands I use very often, quite for every work, are Average = to overlap two points Join = to join the two points into one The Cleanup tool Since I have to export my paths to CNC, I must be sure there are not hidden paths, Stray points or other things that are not closed paths. I've seen this feature requested already It's extremely useful to have a wide range of selection tools. Actually, seems like AD, when using the distribute command, use the Top-Left anchor as reference. Being able to use a Key Object would be way better Another things I'm missing: - Offset command - "mm" as unit for the Stroke panel, I just work in mm - Being able to set a Layer as template (for tracing works) Last thing, for now. I found no way in AD to quickly know if there is a hidden object somewhere. What I do with Illustrator is raw vector manipulation, I need these kind of tools for my daily work. I wish you could add such tools as soon as possible. Thank you.

I was curious to know if there are any hopes that down the road a python or some sort of scripting API will be available for Affinity Applications like Designer/Photo. Working in the film/vfx/games industry for over 10 years now, one of the biggest headaches is developing pipeline tools for Adobe applications due to their constraints and poor choice of Java implementation for API. I would love to see a modern API like python supported in Affinity applications. Thanks guys, keep up the great work!

Hi, Yesterday I was trying to do something as simple, as rotating a group of nodes. And all i could find was how to rotate them by 90 deg. Is there a free transform for a group of nodes?! Coz if not, I can't even belive You guys let that happend. -
I use the Mesh Warp Tool to manually de-lens panoramas post stitching to get as much out of the coverage as reasonably possible. It would be great to be able to lock the axis of the point I'm dragging with a modifier key (shift, option, CMD… I think shift works best ergonomically). Also for more accurate matching (matte painting for example) it'd be great to be able to shift the points using the arrow keys like with the Move Tool. In general this helps avoiding unwanted distortions while warping.

For some reason none of the tools are working. I cannot select any of them. Instead of selecting a specific tool it draws a blue rectangle on the page as if selecting. Can anyone help? Thank you. -
I have serveral serious issues with my Affinitiy Designer for Windows. In fact, the program is hardly useful at all. 1. The crop tool does not work at all. What it does is to just move the picture around on the canvas. 2. The "Convert object to artboard" and "Convert artboard to object" menu options are greyed oout. 3. Seems like some tools are missing from the toobox (I have checked the option "Customise tools"). 4. Not all tools are working. The "Sharpen brush" has no effect whatsoever. I can see the potential for this program. But as it is now, there are too many things that does not work. -
Hi. I'm fairly new to the forums, so if this has been mentioned before then I apologise! I'm an illustrator and would really like to make the transition from PS CC to Affinity but there's a couple of things that Designer/Photo don't have atm: Pattern Overlay with the ability to import .pat files and also the ability to import .tpl files (I use a lot of Kyle Webster's brushes). Could you add these features in the future please? Thanks. -
I think it would better for the workflow to have the context toolbar as dialog boxes with the specific tool options for each tool on right mouse click, like in photoshop. Maybe also a keyboard shortcut to resize brushes, pencil etc with mousewheel :) -
I can use the color picker to select a color. I cannot get Designer to use that color to fill an object. Nothing seems to work. I've tried every possible drag-and-drop sequence I can think of. There is nothing in the help fils about this. Nothing in the forums about this. Used to Adobe, where this is trivial: there, selecting a color with the eyedropper tool loads that color into the palette and a drag-and-drop of that color to an object fills that object with the selected color. Help! -
I have a couple of points to raise regarding the rectangular marquee tool. 1. There either isn't or I cant find a display showing the marquee's dimensions; 2. There either isn't or I can't find a way of constraining the marquee's dimensions to a fixed aspect ratio; 3. There either isn't or I can't find a way of setting the marquee's dimensions to a fixed pixel size.

I follow every update from the beginning of beta, and I am delighted with the fast moving development. You guys are wizards! Can I ask you to do even a little bit of magic in your wonderful app: Aligning to the key object (ctrl+left-click on the object to select it as a key) , and repeat the last transformation (ctrl+d in Illustrator)? -
In photoshop we have the 'info' pane, which tells you the X Y coordinates of your cursor position. We don't have this in affinity, and we also have a less accurate (more sparsely labeled) ruler to make matters worse. Additionally, there is no ruler tool to measure things. This makes it extremely difficult to make precise changes especially for corporate and web design work. It's starting to seem like Affinity is better suited for freeform graphics rather than precision. Please add these features. -
From this thread. Please consider this for the new feature. At least this will be more familiar to Adobe users. I think it is not hard to do, maybe. :D Cheers. -
Weird. Weird. Weird. For some unknown reason, my tools (left of screen) started to appear and disappear with each click.This is with "dock tools" unchecked. If I dock the tools, it works fine, but I prefer using 2 columns and docking only allows me 1 column. I have tried: • Restarting while holding down control key. •Removing 'com.seriflabs.affinityphoto.plist' and restarting. •Deleting the app and re-downloading from Apple. No change. Any ideas or suggestions? -
Hi - I just started using Affinity Photo a couple of days ago. Thanks for making a great program and getting me out of the clutches of Adobe. Looking forward to 1.5 and batch editing/renaming. I noticed that in the tutorial videos, the tool icons have color accents. How do I switch this feature on? Thanks! -
After an hour or so of use: after using View cannot select Move. Select any other tool then go back to Move and it will work. After several minutes that won't work. At that point cannot select any tool. Close down application then restart. It works again. -
I've been able to change the shortcut for the Rectangle, Ellipse, and Rounded-Rectangle Tools, but I don't see a listing for the Tool that includes the rest of the shapes (triangle, arrow, etc.). I noticed that, when hovering over that tool before I changed things, the "Shapes" Tool displayed the M shortcut--same as the Rectangle Tool. After changing the Rectangle to R, no shortcut is listed on the Shapes Tool, so it must have been "removed" somewhere. Does anyone know how to access the shortcut entry field for it? I couldn't find anything related under the Draw/Tools list in the Keyboard Shortcuts section of Preferences. -
1. Had the app open on a secondary display. 2. Suspended the laptop 3. Started it without secondary display 4. There's no way to recover the Tools palette (I can dock it though)

Hi, I am new to AD but used PS/AI a lot and I have problem in work efficiency / speed when it comes to select objects. Normally I press "V" and I can be sure that I am in the move tool and start to click-drag a marquee selection. Unfortunately in AD I'm not. Because if the move tool is already active "V" toggles to the last used tool. And if I start my click-drag action to create the marquee selection - something other happens, e.g. I paint or what tool is ever active then. I couldn't find a setting option in the preferences to prevent that behavior. Is there something I overlooked? Thanks. Also thanks, for that great software package. -
Hello--I'm just learning to use Affinity Designer and Astropad and the Apple Pencil. Has anyone experienced AD making a tinkling rejection sound when trying to undo or activate certain actions with the large circle on Astropad? I can use the side tool bar on Astro to zoom in and out but cannot get it to undo. It's tedious going back to the keyboard to command z, and Astropad doesn't capture/show my very top Mac tool bar that has "edit" so I can't undo that way. Thanks for any thoughts, advice. -
Hello friends, from now would like to congratulate for the great work they have done. Regarding Affinity Design (I'm new to this forum), it would be possible to include in future versions of the following tools?: 1- Tool "average" vector points 2- Tracing and expand a vector image tools 3- In the absence of, any way to get a color pantone from a RGB or CMYK base?
