  1. With the Pen tool, go ahead and create a 5-sided star (see star_empty_center.png). You see the pentagon in the center being empty. What I want is for the center to be filled (see star_filled_center.png). => My current "workaround": duplicate the (star) shape select both shapes and apply boolean "Divide" to segregate the 5 triangles with Node Tool: for each triangle, break and remove the line that belongs to the pentagon select all triangles and apply "Join curves" It's cumbersome, but it works. My question: is there any simple way / an option to tell AD (before or after drawing the curve) to fill any overlapping areas to make it look solid ?
  2. I'm getting reproducible behavior with this sequence: Make a selection on pixel layer>Edit>Fill>Deselect When I deselect, the unselected part from the original selection also fills, making the whole layer a solid color. See screen captures for the before and after. You can even see the selection is active in the before image. I found that this also happens when I use the keyboard shortcut SHIFT+F5 but it doesn't happen if I fill using the fill tool (paintbucket). I've been experiencing this for a while now. I think I noticed it even before I installed Mojave on my late 2015 iMac, but definitely ever since I installed Mojave.
  3. Hello, I created 25 types to fill objects. Designia Styles.afstyles
  4. The image below shows some curves I drew with the pen tool. How would I go about filling in the space in between each curve with a different colour? Here is an example of what I need: All help is appreciated. Thanks, Dan
  5. Hello! I prepared new 25 styles for A-Designer, A-Photo and A-Publisher Regards Designia Styles 2.afstyles
  6. I am having an issue with the fill function not behaving as expected on a selection in Affinity Photo on the Mac. I am trying to fill an area of an image in white. Please see attached screenshots of the problem: 1. Selection 2. Preview of fill in white (looks fine) 3. End result of fill (does not look fine) 4. End of result of fill with the selected area deselected. As you can see the fill along the top edge of the selected area is not coming out as expected or indeed previewed and is creating a kind of artifact/rough edge. This is undesirable. I have tried messing about with the refine options of the selection including feathering etc but have been unable to improve the situation as the preview here also looks fine. Additionally I have tried to just paint the selection in white however the same issue still arises. This is not a one off either, this is happening in different areas with different selections. I am very new to Affinity Photo admittedly and am just getting started but have searched the web and been unable to find anything specifically related to this problem. I would be grateful for any help as it is driving me nuts or to know if this is in fact a bug. Many thanks

    Bitmap Fill

Hi, I'm having a problem with bitmap fill. It doesn't work. When I import a seamless pattern (or any pattern), the edges of the pattern extend into lines as soon as I fiddle with the settings. Hard to explain -- see attachment, where I'm trying to fill the floor with a wood pattern. Is this a known bug? Or is there a workaround? I'm using latest Mac OS, with Affinity products updated by iTunes, currently on the latest build. By the way, this hasn't always been an issue. Bitmap fill used to work fine on this same computer, maybe a year back. I'm missing this feature. Cheers.
  8. I had created a text box and I would like to fill it with a color and even change the stroke. If this option already exist it will be great to learn how to do it, otherwise, it can be an interesting implementation because this will avoid an extra layer as a background for the text.
  9. Being new to affinity designer, I couldn't make the decision on how to fill only parts of this vector. I'd like it to stay a vector instead of rasterizing it for paint mode, some im curious on how I can select only parts of the inside of vector id like to fill, as it is black and white and I would like to keep the middle parts of this rose transparent, well I fill the outline around it. Thank you, N0hva
  10. Hi. I have a simple 10x10 area I want to fill with a 1x1 pattern without stretching or distorting the pattern. I have drawn the initial pattern in AD. I can rasterize it, but the fill tool insists on stretching it to make it fit instead of repeating the raster. I'd prefer to keep the pattern 'live', like a symbol, so I can still edit it after setting up the file. Should I aim to work with the source pattern as an asset? a source? a bitmap fill (which seems like the worst option)? Thanks folks. Dying here.
  11. Affinity, Do you guys have a video showcasing how to fill aky of a drone 360 Pano? I came across a video on YouTube that showcased this, but cannot find it, nor can I remember if it was an "Affinity" showcased Video Workflow or someone else. Due to the Zenith constraints of Drone 360 image capture, I need to fill the sky. Thank you.
  12. Hi, I have a shape that is closed and contains a hole. On the picture joined : - This shape is a result of a boolean combination of 2 identical shapes slightly shifted. - The stroke is red - The fill is black. I want to fill the hole in the center of this shape. 1 - I tried all the boolean operations (including divide) with no success, it doesn't "restore" the 2 original shapes as some vertices have been merged. 2 - I tried removing vertices to restore a "filled" shape, but it is too hard as some vertices are overlapping other ones (is there a way to "hide" vertices like in Blender ?) 3 - I could redraw a shape on top of the original, but It's too hard because of the complexity of the bezier curves. 4 - I tried to make a square nested in this shape's layer, but it make the square appears only in the "fill" part of this shape (the black part). How can I fill the center of this shape ? Thank you, Cédric.
  13. Hi guys, There has been a bit of a nasty bug, and I thought I posted it, but it seems that I forgot. Basically, if you draw a circle, give it a color (blue for example), and then apply a a stroke to it, let's say white, and align it on the inside, the FILL color will be slightly visible around the edges of the circle. Which is really mot that good This is pretty important, since right now we have to find workarounds, so it would be great if this would be fixed for the next Beta version. I also attached a file that shows exactly what I mean Cheers, Chris outline-test.afdesign
  14. Hi guys, I have attached a small test file here. Basically, the fill can be seen going over the stroke, when the stroke is set to INSIDE. Thank you, Chris outline-test.afdesign
  15. Hi, I'm trying to figure out how to fill a colored area of a bitmap logo to a different color yet keep the transparency around it (original was a png). In Photoshop I could just select "fill" then pick my fill color and check the keep transparency checkbox.. How do I achieve this in AP ? THX
  16. I've got a few shapes where, at some point in the past, I've flipped them horizontally. To my surprise, when I filled them with text, the text was also reversed. Is there a way to tell Affinity to not keep that information hanging around, and just make the text object normally? Personally I feel like it shouldn't behave this way (if I wanted reversed text, I'd flip it after adding the words). There are work arounds, like combining some geometry, even if it doesn't alter the shape, will resolve the issue. Thanks!
  17. Really enjoying my trial so far, and looking to buy in the next day or so if we can fix this. I'm following the video in this post: Unfortunately, going to Edit -> Inpaint results in spinning all CPU cores for about 5 minutes, then spinning 1 core after that for... well, it's still going about 15 minutes later: I'm on macOS 10.13.2. I tried it on small regions of about 1000 sq. pixels and it finishes quickly but leaves the area unchanged. Is this a bug or am I doing it wrong? Thanks, Matt Edit: Okay, so on smaller areas the best I've gotten is this (I would expect the selected region to be entirely filled by extending the blue part on bottom - look at the weird shape):
  18. Hello and happy holidays, For my current project I've been using the Fill Tool [G] in Designer to edit stroke gradients a lot. The Fill Tool doesn't remember that I'm using the stroke context, though. It's a bit slow to have to click the context dropdown and switch it from Fill (the default) to Stroke every time I switch tools back and forth. Does anyone know a way to either make the Fill Tool remember my context preference, or (preferably) assign a hotkey to toggle between the Fill and Stroke context? This would really help my workflow! I'm on a Mac, Designer 1.6. Thanks!
  19. Hello, Try these steps in Affinity Photo: - open an image - select Pen tool and create a closed object - turn off image layer - change to Node tool - select your object - select Fill on toolbar and select a Colour - change to Gradient tab there - click to end point for apply gradient - select other type from list: nothing happened in Elliptical and Radial mode, Conical is wrong. - select None tab - click on Recent item on None tab - change to Gradient tab again, and select a type: this will working. If change to Linear, and select None tab and Recent, type will not working again... And I cannot change position from 0%. Nowhere vertical, horizontal or diagonal (maybe percent?) rotate/angle for fill...
  20. Hi, Can someone help me with this simple problem? So SHIFT-X toggles between a fill and a stroke. So if I have a solid fill, and no stroke, when I press SHIFT-X I then get a stroke but no fill. I get that. What I don't get is what if I want to set my default mode to be a solid fill with a stroke? I click the 'Synchronise defaults from this selection' button. And all looks fine. But when I then select my pen tool, it's just giving me a stroke with no fill. See example. Likewise, more often than not I want to set a fill with no stroke. So I draw a simple shape, fill it with whatever colour I want, select 'none' for stroke. Click the 'Synchronise defaults from this selection' button. All looks well on screen. I click once with the pen tool, then as soon as I click again, both revert to no stroke/no fill?! What's going on?
  21. Hi, I´m a total beginner and I just can´t combine this 3 lines into an area I could fill with color. They just don´t combine. Why is it?
  22. Not sure if this is a bug, but...After selecting background of an image then using refine edges and pressing delete it leave some of the image partially transparent and unavailable to fully fill with the flood fill tool. see attachment. cant fill area.afphoto
  23. 1. I draw circle with stoke (inside) 2. I fill the circle 3. Result 4. How to fix it ?
  24. Affinity Photo is really amazing graphics designing software...But it really sucks when I work with color gradient & texture...Does anyone have any idea about how to use this type of rainbow gradient fill on text or any object in Affinity Photo v1.5...???
  25. I have a photo that I outlined with the pen tool to attempt to clean up the lines. So, now I have my outlined created with the pen tool and I got rid of the background. How do I fill in my outline? I just want it to be filled in black. Attached is the file I am working on. Thanks, T10Pro new deer logo.afdesign
