  1. Now when importing brushes it creates the category name based in the file but dont show up in the dropdown menu
  2. Is there a way to keep all brush strokes in a single layer instead of making a layer for every stroke?
  3. Hey guys, I want to draw a double circle arrow for my origami tutorial ebook, I used ronniemcbride method to create the arrow head, then I create a circle and convert it to curve and cut it into half and duplicate it to become the double arrow circle, like below, but the arrow head is crooked, how do I make perfect double circle arrow? Left: arrowhead brush created by me Right: arrowhead brush created by ronniemcbride
  4. I've discovered that I can duplicate a lot of Painter brush effects using the Lighting Filter and Textures on individual brush strokes. Does anyone know how, or if it's even possible in AP, to create a brush that will produce a reasonable facsimile of Painter's Distort Brush? For those not familiar with Painter Brushes, this is what it would look like.
  5. Hey folks – I created this illustration as a parody of a quasi-famous NY designer I recently saw. It was my first attempt with AD, and at using variable brush strokes / curves. I found the experience pretty straightforward, almost fun. I typically use illustrator for renderings like this but wanted to test out how AD worked since I had just purchased it recently. I think the only major challenge I had was that I didn't like that I couldn't use the eye-dropper on different colors to select the color. That part wasn't intuitive to me. After watching some youtube videos and some snippets on the site, I got the hang of it after a while. This is one in a series of character illustrations I'll be doing. His name is Tobison Vanderherd: Senior Design Strategist (for now anyway). I'm going to be fleshing out an entire agency based on endangered species because, after all, agencies are sort of dying out. Anyway, don't know how far I'll take it, but it's certainly fun getting familiar with the tool and experimenting. I'm eventually going to take the illustration into After Effects and try some puppeteering/ voiceover work to see how that holds up. I'll share my results if anyone's interested. Been enjoying watching what everyone has been posting and looking forward to seeing what other creations folks come up with. Thanks for your time and feedback, Anthony
  6. HELP! I am completely stuck. I tried all settings but somehow it will not work... Q: How to configure Wacom Intuos Pro + Affinity Photo, that key ring can be used to alter brush size? configure zoom in/out to work correctly? Will appreciate any help! :) CU, Roland
  7. The setting of pressure settings is very convoluted and unnecessarily complicated, and having to reset every time i restart the program is very annoying.
  8. Hi all I'm a newbie to affinity and to Serif products so this could be me not quite grasping how the tool works. but I found that it was hard to edit the profile of the brush I could click a node on the curve but I couldn't move it. I managed to edit it a little bit accidentally by double clicking When I drew with my customized brush it snapped back to a default profile as if I hadn't edited it at all.
  9. Dear All, Any idea how to restore all deleted brush? HELP :( Regards, Thank you.
  10. Hello, this is my first message here Like a lot of people around here, I've been using Illustrator for years and got used to its mental model and tools. Recently i started sketching simple cartoons using a tablet and unfortunately I can't yet achieve the same line quality in AD as I get in AI I suspect this is more due to the way AD translates my gestures into vector lines. Apparently it follows them "too closely" and any jitter on my part will become very apparent. In Illustrator, i'd handle this by messing with the Paintbrush tool options>fidelity/accuracy setting i've attached an example in AD, I haven't found a similiar option. Am I missing something or this level of control is not implemented yet? Thank you so much! I'm making a conscious effort to switch to AD and this is my biggest gripe so far (I can't organize/distribute artboards either, but i'll leave that for some other day)
  11. Hey friends of photography and picture editing, i want to offer you a free frost brush (or what ever you use it for) for affinity photo. If u use it and like it, please share the link to other users so they can use the brush as well. Thank you and have fun. FROST BRUSH DOWNLOAD
  12. I was experimenting and learning about the zoom filter today putting light rays onto a photo. I have attached a screen shot to show you what the anomaly is. I am wondering why this is happening.
  13. I'm trying to fix a patch of sky that I retouched badly after inpainting out some stray branches and saved over the original. I could use healing tools, but since the sky is uniform I wanted to sample some unretouched sky and paint over the bad area. I have sampled the good sky (blue shows as foreground color), and the toolbar indicates my brush is at 100% opacity, but brushing over the bad area changes nothing. Same behavior for Paint Brush or Colour Replacement Brush. This is a file of the problem corner made as New from Clipboard and doesn't look much in detail like what's on my screen but will give an idea of what I am trying to fix. Bad sky.afphoto
  14. Hi, everyone! As I haven't found any topic on this, so the decision was made to post a new one. I have one elliptical shape, which I want to be distributed along any free line at certain density. Something like the image below, only at much higher density, but just so you can understand my needs. Maybe just a simple vector brush would do? But I haven't figured out how to make one. — the shape actually mustn't rotate; needs to stay in its default orientaiton — I would prefer the shape to have an exact dimensions (set in milimeters) — variable density would be useful, but not necessary Is there a way to do this in Affinity Designer? I need this for typeface design :) Thank you.
  15. Hi Everybody, I've imported my custom brushes from Photoshop, but they lag a lot when using them in Affinity Photo. It takes a good 5-7 seconds before my mark appears, even just a single click. I'm not using a tablet, just a mouse. My brushes tend to be large (2000px), but nothing that PS couldn't handle. Any ideas? I thought about turning off the brush preview, but I need it to see where I'm laying down my marks. Thanks!
  16. I figured I would ask here to make sure someone else can search to find an updated answer. I don't care to see the brush pattern, most of my brushes I just click as a stamp. I have about 300 bruise. Any way to see them like PS and also change between Small and Large. thanks
  17. I created a image paint brush that is basically the text of the watermark I want to use on my images when I upload them online and I can't figure out how to change the colour. It seems like it is always in the colour black no matter what colour I have selected. It also doesn't seem to work... as in it's freezing constantly. I haven't been able to get one photo finished and all I'm doing is adding the watermark/ paint brush to it... no other editing is being done.
  18. Hi I'm having a go with the trail and thinking seriously in shaping from adobe to Affinity but one of the main things that I use in my work is the brushes and the pressure sensitivity, and I can't get to work on Affinity designer I have searched other posts in this forum, but it didn't helped me, I still can't get it to work can someone please help me this is a major point in my decision from buying it thanks
  19. Hi, How do I change the colour of contents created by the brush on a pixel layer? I want to change to selected item. Please see attachment. Thanks a lot in advance! Soren
  20. I'm trying to use the pixel Paint Brush tool and it's not showing up. The Brush Opacity, Flow, and Hardness are at 100% and the Blend mode is on normal. The layer opacity is 100% and Blend mode is normal. Am I missing something or is this an error? Here's a video of the problem: https://youtu.be/Mu4ySt0oH6k
  21. I'm trying to selectively brighten my photo, so I used the selection brush to do so. However, after I deselected one of the selections, my brightening edits continued to change that previously selected portion, but don't change any of my new selections. How do I stop it from editing previously selected material? Thanks!
  22. FIrst off, I have a tablet and in the draw persona I want to use a brush and use one from the basic category. Shouldn't I be able to pick one and it conform to the shape in the preview panel without me doing anything else? When I draw with one, I get a simple line with no tapering even though the preview shows there is. Predefined brushes are possible right?
  23. Is it just me, or is the brush engine in AP some way behind that in Photoshop? Most of the time I'm editing photos, so drawing features don't bother me that much but occasionally I'll find myself in the mood for some digital doodling. I've tried AP's own brushes and also imported some custom brushes (which simulate 'real' pencils, a variety from 2H to 2B) from Photoshop but I can't get anything like the same smoothness of line in AP. I've tried both my Wacom tablet and mouse, but makes no difference. Now, I understand perfectly that this kind of thing is going to be far from a priority but just wondered what others were experiencing. I did try searching and found a few users who reckoned it was an issue with Wacom support, but even with a mouse (not something I'd want to use for any length of time when drawing, obviously) the results are nothing like PS. Other than that, outstanding piece of software. Top marks to all those developing this amazing tool.
  24. Hi, I've not been into vector design for ages, but AD forces me… so, question is: how does creating your own brush really work, from scratch. I'd like to make something like a drinking straw as in the picture below. I imagine it must be possible to have a brush that draws both the yellow straw itself and the blueish banderole around it. Would be even better if this brush generated drinking straw "ends" with a shadow or so. So, folks, let me participate in your unreal skills!
  25. Not sure if I missed this one. But converting lines in to fills is a must for me.
