I am posting this feedback in this section of the forum, I hope this help to improve the software Not going to talk about the bugs, I hope all of them get fixed I am going to compare my experience with other softares, such as Adobe Illustrator, Inkscape (the ones I use the most) For the few time I have used the software I can tell is very minimalistic, (I really hope this is not because the Ipad version limitations, as PC can do much more than a Ipad, so I hope PC version is not being limited to keep in the same quality of the Ipad version) Or maybe is the way the software is going to be, as it could be a minimalistic software not planned to have advanced features, I would like to know which kind of software Affinity Designer aim to be, minimalistic or advanced? Developer team care for both personas this mean less time to focus to improve designer persona and possibly priorize pixel persona over vector persona (The software is meant to be a vector graphic software, rather than a raster graphic software) The exporting persona is not intuitive and does not have much more to offer than the traditional exporting in the user menu The software have very few settings and some of them are not compatible with SVG format (The standard file format for vector graphics) The software have very few tools and some of them are not compatible with SVG format (The standard file format for vector graphics) There are very few tools for vector graphics, and the customization for them are very tricky and not intuitive & limited _ What I suggest is to focus on introducing new tools&features&settings to work with vector graphics and improve the ones that the software already have Currently I don`t use this software because of the limitations exposed, as other vector graphic software have to offer much more optimized tools&features for vector format (SVG), I really hope it get more complexity eventually as for now it is not a stand alone software for its limitations & few features for vector graphics.- 14 replies

can someone please update this thread? it's so frustrating when other users are having the same issue and trying to find a resolution but there's no updated post to show how to correct. I'm having the same problem. I had a client ask me to recreate his logo, but add my own ideas. I retraced his logo with the pen tool in vector persona. I exported eps and sent to supplier for printing on t-shirts. however, she said my work is rasterized. When she opens the file, it looks like bitmap! When I send it to myself, I see the same issue! However, when I send the original AD file, it's perfect and all layers are there and editable. This is driving me absolutely insane! Please advise. Spare me from wasting money on AI. -

Hello! In the past days I encountered an error that I had never noticed before: After working for hours with several documents consisting of about 10-15 artboards with individual column guides, the option to show/hide the column guides from the view menu disappeared several times. I had to restart Affinity Designer in order to get them back working. I have no precise recipe to reproduce this error. But perhaps somebody else has encountered it, too. One thing I do remember is, that I dragged an element on the canavas (outside an artboard), saw the colomn guides populating the whole canvas for a brief moment before they disappeared again. Afterwords I wasn't able to switch them on and off anymore. Cheers, Volker

I have Affinity Photo (1.7.3) and have recently bought Affinity Designer (1.7.3). Both running on iMac (OS 10.13.6 - latest compatible for older iMac). The layers panel is not working properly in Affinity Designer (works fine in Affinity Photo). No matter what I've tried I cannot manipulate or drag the objects or layers in the Designer Layers Panel. I've tried creating new files, new layers, new objects, restarting Designer, etc. I've tried locking and unlocking layers, unlocking all layers from the Layers menu and from within the Layers Panel. I've viewed the online instructions, tutorials, videos, etc. There is no mention of this problem and no apparent solution. Anybody else experienced this or found a solution? Thanks so much. -

I really hope that I've missed this option somewhere. When you show / hide guides it does just that - brilliant! Shapes you can toggle the edges in Designer (but not Publisher) with view Outline mode, while not exactly what I'm after it does help locate white boxes on a white background. However I can't find a way to showing / hide edges of text boxes. It would be really helpful, especially in creating templates etc. Many thanks -

Hey! I do transit maps and diagrams for in my spare time. Made them a while ago but now I think it's about right to show it to you :-) This one is a transit diagram inspired by from the era transit diagrams used be around in Wien (Vienna). This schematic shows the Stadtbahn lines G, DG, GD, W in 1975. Before the U-Bahn sections opened. This one is a transit diagram inspired by from the era transit diagrams used be around in Vienna. This schematic shows the remaining Stadtbahn lines G, GD, W and the then new two U-bahn lines U1, U4 in 1978. Any feedback is appreciated!

I have a layer containing several vector objects. On top of that is an adjustment layer. I need to merge the adjustment layer with the vector objects but the "merge" button in the adjustment layer settings doesn't do anyhing. I also tried adding the adjustment as a child of the object layer or to a single object, but it still doesn't work. I have attached a simple file as an example. How do I merge the layer? I'm having a problem when grouping objects in Affinity Desiger mac desktop v1.7.2. When grouping objects, the objects move within the group. See attached example.

Dear Affinity Please can you help me. I want to change the colour of the top of photo A (green) to match photo B's colour Pink top Please can you show me how this can be done so that it is a perfect colour match. The colour in HSL is 04% 100% 97% (or should be!!) Thank you in advance (I did actually change top B to the pink in question but forgot how as its been so long since I've needed to edit photos Ha Ha) Thanks Again

Here's a recent fun personal iso piece done in Designer. Anyone who grew up in the 70's will be familiar with these 2 crime fighters. Steve McGarrett (Jack Lord) and Danny "Danno" Williams (James MacArthur) from the original Hawaii Five-0 TV series from 1968-1980. "Book'em Danno" was McGarrett's signature catch phrase as well as his trademark hair wave. Shown here is the original 68 Mercury.

I'm having a problem getting used to ADesigner as a noob.... I have been practicing with the pen tool per an online course and seem do be doing well until the pen tool starts to snap to unseen guides/grids and I ultimately have to back up to the last practice project completed without issue, save and close ADesigner and then restart to continue. This seems somewhat weird and very annoying - actually extremely annoying. I'm using a Windows 64 bit laptop with Intel i7-3520M Core, running Win10 Pro with 16Gb ram & Wacom Tablet. I can currently run the Adobe Ai, Ps, Id, Ae, Au, Pr and other intense power programs without any issues. If anyone has encountered this issue it would be much appreciated to get a solution as quickly as possible. Thank you all for your assistance -
Hey! I got this message whenever trying to save this file (it's a file from last year which I am trying to update): And cannot save this file. Only export to PDF works. Tried to open the original file without edits again, edit and save it in APub as well. Same problem. So I do what the message is asking for — report this to development team through this message. I cannot provide the file as I cannot save it after the edit. The original file without edits can be opened but yeah without being able to save changes it's hard to use it anymore. All the best, Chris PS: I went through a PDF back to an Affinity file as a work around.
