I have a PNG image (attached) that I need to clone the dark background area of the image over the text at the top. How do I do that? I'm sure it's dead simple but I have tried searching all types of terms and looked through the tutorials to no avail. Thanks, ACP

If you create an artboard in Designer with bleed and place that artboard into Publisher and choose Page Box to be Trim box. The bleed area is empty? So how do I place a Designer file into Publisher with the bleed area?

Hi, i am new user Affinity Designer who recently started trying to master the pen tool and create something visually appealing using vectors. I have no experience in that at all, i am quite good at Photoshop but vectors are totally new to me. Here is my atempt to create a luxury Maurice Lacroix watch.

It seems like something is not working as we are used to, or probably I am missing something, and searching for 1 hour does not bring up any satisfying results. I would like to remove part of one shape using another shape in a way that I can see the transparent background, and unfortunately, topics like this also did not solve the problem. Here is an example screenshot, similar to what I would like to achieve: I would like to remove the inner rectangle in a way to subtract the outer one and see the transparent background. Thank you so much for your help. -

In DrawPlus, I have a vertical line and can create a shadow emanating from the bottom of the line - a sort of 'sundial' effect. Is this possible in Designer?

Hi, It would be nice to be able to bulk import vector assets like SVG files by dragging and dropping many of them in the Assets panel from a file manager window. Or at least be able to use the import dialog from the panel's menu for vectors, just like we can already do with raster images. It seems like a glaring omission that we can only do it with one type of files. Oddly enough I did a search on this forum for "Bulk vector assets import" and could not find a previous discussion on the subject. p.s. I'm aware that we can import vectors one by one, but it's a tedious process when you want to add hundreds of files. Alex

How do I cut a squarer in half? I tried to create a strait line, place it in the middle of the squarer and press subtract but I does not work. It does't work with any other options -
I got two frame text one each one in a row and one on top of another. Like this Text1 Text2 I want to center them vertically in my document and I tried Align Vertically then Align middle but all it does is is either nothing or put them together in a row. How do you center them vertically in the middle? I'm using the latest version of Affinity Desitgner. -

Hello all, I am struggling to export a design (in Affinity Designer) with drop shadow. I have text with the effect 'outer shadow' which looks great however, when I export this as a PNG, it is no longer there!? The file dimensions (if you need to know) are 7632 px by 6480 px in 300 dpi. I simply select 'export' and click PNG but don't have many options. I'm just leaving it as PNG. Not sure what PNG-8 (dithered) is or if that will make a difference? I'm using version 1.8.3.641 Please help! I can't see what I'm doing wrong? Thank you all in advance Helen x

I wanted something more than a standard product shot which practically everyone seems to do. They are great for their intended purpose but I don’t find them an interesting subject and they are just too easy. So this was from my folder of things I might want to do sometime. Subjects that on the face of it seem fairly simple aren’t necessarily less work, this took at least 4 times as long as the Porsche. Back to the complicated/slow ones now.

Hello everyone, Back with another illustration. Similar to “Light houses” this one is also a mixture of vector illustration with photography. The main vector objects (the monsters/creatures) where made in Affinity Designer then moved into Affinity Photo where I started with the background, removing all the people, followed by removing any text on the signs and labels around the train and replace it with my own text (a bit over kill since there kinda small to read and most people will never see it but was still fun to do) followed by placing the vector objects in, colour correcting the scene and adding shadows and other textuers such as dust and lens scratches. Overall the project was fun to mess around with and I’m happy with how it came out. Made with Affintiy Photo + Affinity Designer and made on the iPad Pro. I'm using Affinity Designer's Typography. It's showing all these Stylistic Alternates, All Alternates, Figure Width, etc. Then you can hide irrelevant features. Where can I find tutorials about these terms and how do you know what are the relevant features? In other words I would like to use my fonts capabilities with Affinity Designer to its potential but I need to understand how. With Affinity Designer I don't think I need other font manager or do I?. Thanks.

Hey everyone. I hope you all are well!! Been working on some illustrations and wanted to share one with you all. I've been message around with arts styles and started to play around with mixing raster and vector together and came up with this. Where I take vector shapes and apply raster effects such as brush effects and textures to it. Made with Affinity Designer + Affinity Photo on the iPad Pro. I’m intentionally seeking to learn from some of my favorite artists by attempting to emulate aspects of their styles. This particular exercise in admiration is based on the flowing ribbons and gradients of @serdarduran’s work. Created solely on Affinity Designer for iPad with Apple Pencil (including the sketch, which is a first for me).

Ungrouping anything in any file in affinity designer 1.8.3 for MacOS breaks most element on the screen screen and undoing the ungroup does not fix it, neither does reverting to a earlier snapshot. I am fairly new to the program but I'm pretty sure that this isn't supposed to happen, not sure if it's something I have done or just a bug with my version. AFFINITY_DESIGNER_UNGROUP_BUG.mov

Hi, here’s an experimental idea made after learning something from one of the lockdown creative sessions. I’ve been using AD for quite a while now, and still have a ton to learn, but I can’t believe I missed the adjustment option on the layers panel. I do totally get the ‘stay safe’ message, but on another level it seems quite an abstract command, which possibly accounts for the progression of this graphic!

Hi, Another one, featuring the same look-and-feel of my previous post. As the eye is always the main element, I thought of naming this one as the 1000 eyes of Doctor Mabuse – as in the Fritz Lang's movie. It's not as rich as the first one but I do like the depth of the layers I got with the radial elements. Great and perfect
