  1. Hello Community, I'm in the process of completely converting my workflow to Affinity Photo. One point for which I haven't found a solution yet is to dock the toolbox on the right side. As can be seen in the screenshot in Photoshop. Does anyone have a tip for me how this works? I have already discovered the variant of the "floating" tools, but it is not satisfactory for me. Thanks in advance for your help.
  2. Protect Alpha Affinity Photo tutorial In this YouTube #Shorts Affinity Photo tutorial I show in less than 60 seconds how easy it is to shade or color something without going out of the lines by using Protect Alpha. This is a short version of my full tutorial. https://youtu.be/tYAVRmWVhwI #Shorts #protectalpha #shade #madeinaffinity #affinityphoto #affinityserif #tutorial #photomanipulation #graphicdesign #affinity #digitallyfearless
  3. https://www.artstation.com/artwork/o2JBLO A fun side project I've been working on as of late while studying graphics at the Game Assembly in Stockholm. Had this in the back-burner for a while, but I wanted to to wait with finishing this when I had some spare time during the holidays and after upgrading my PC rig and monitor. As for inspiration I took a lot of it from the Swedish painter John Bauer when designing the troll/giant character, since I am a big fan of his troll paintings. Overall pretty satisfied with how it turned out, especially how the water interacts with the Jotunn when he's sitting in it.
  4. I’m really frustrated and demoralized...after 2 hours searching on web and this forum. I have several images with different sizes, i just drop them all in a AP canvas in order to export those singles images with same size. 1. export persona ask me to set every slice manually...do i really need export persona to export some files??? 2. then i came back to crop the canvas so to have all slices at the same size but AP doesnt really crop images even if i already rasterized them (ONE BY ONE MANUALLY!!!!) 3. i just opened Photoshop and done the job in few seconds. This is just one of the many issue i get daily, no offence, maybe it’s my fault but i wondering if who made the app really use it to work or just test it beacuse its something really different. Im using PS since 1997 and i never ever had to bare this madness to do my job.
  5. I'm seeking user feedback on this tablet. Could anyone who has one on Windows please tell me how well the wheel/trackpad works in AP. I currently have a small Wacom tablet and am looking to upgrade as I have about 400 slide copies to process and would like an easier way to pan and zoom than using the space bar and pen buttons. Ideally I would like to be able to transparently pan and zoom with my left hand. Thanks Geoff
  6. In Adobe Lightroom, it has a "dehaze" slider in the area for developing raw photos. I was wondering if this could be a good addition to the develop persona. Kind regards Tom.
  7. Hello everyone, recently my computer was updated to WIndows 11, when trying to use Photo, I realize that the letters and font of the UI are unreadable, I leave a screenshot. I already reinstalled Affinity Photo with no changes.
  8. So I had this multi-hour, intricate project with dozens of images, shapes, nested groups, and an embedded designer file. I had double tapped it to open it and make a few tweaks. I then left things as they were, with the embedded document still open, as I had to switch tasks and work in different apps entirely, which caused AP to be dumped out of ram. Upon launching AP again I noticed that the thumbnail of my project was replaced by one of the embedded designer file. When I tried to open it, AP returned an error message that said « loading failed. Unable to load document. » I have tried relaunching AP, rebooting the iPad. No effect: the document still won’t load. So I guess the file is permanently corrupted. Next, I experimented a bit. I have tried duplicating the document. Nothing happened. Trying to save it caused AP to just instantly crash. Renaming did work, but I still wasn’t able to save or duplicate the renamed document. I also created a new document that contained the same embed and a couple of dozen pictures to very roughly mimic the original project and tried to reproduce the bug. I managed to get AP dumped out of ram while the embedded document was open, but after relaunching AP, the thumbnail was the one of the project, and there was no corruption. Finally I stashed the embedded designer document in a nested group and tried again. Upon relaunch I was greeted with a thumbnail of the embedded document instead of one of the whole project. The document was corrupted: unloadable, unsavable, etc…

  10. Hi, The question might be simple, but are layer order applied bottom to top in a group ? When you have normal layers above the background layer, these are applied from the background layer up. But is it the same when layers are in a group, like the screenshot below ? Background, then White Balance, then Noise Reduction, etc... ? Or is it Background, then Curve, then Shadows & highlights ? And is it also the case when layer are "inside" (as the folder is a pixel layer from the screenshot) a pixel layer ?$ Thanks !
  11. Hi guys, here's a new video about how to create a circular pixel stretch effect in Affinity Photo. I hope you enjoy this video, thank you!
  12. I am primarily using Affinity Photo's Focus Merge function to create Focus Stacks. I have done about fifty of them without any problem. Today I went to create another Focus Merge having identified the files required in Finder (I am using a M1 Max MacBook Pro running Monterrey with an external Samsung T7 Touch). I started the Focus Merge and got to the New Focus Merge window which allows you to select the files. I have files stored on the Samsung external drive by date. I opened the 2021 folder in List View and was looking for the 2021-03-15 folder for my files. The folder doesn't appear! I can see the previous and subsequent dates folders. Even more curious, if I go to the Icon view or then Column view, the folder shows up, I can open it and the files are there. However, if I switch back to List View, the folder doesn't show up. I have tried this several times switching between the different view with the same result every time. I have even re-booted the computer to clear memory, but when I load Affinity Photo and try again, the same thing happens. I don't know what is unique about this particular folder as it has never happened before with any other folder. I can use the other views as a workaround, but I am concerned whenever files, much less folders disappear or are not visible. I am disappointed because I really like this software and consider it to be a phenomenal value. Any suggestions?
  13. In anticipation of a rather rare wintry day here in the "Sunny South" I created the sorrowful scene below from an image that (I must confess) I found somewhere two or three years ago. Unfortunately I cannot provide appropriate attribution to the original image, which I think came from Unsplash. A little selecting, a little Quick Masking, some Refining Selection, some cutting and pasting, some brushed birds, and some Snow Overlays by Paper Farms (assets) and behold! A truly dreary aspect.🥶😀
  14. Hi Guys, So I was watching one video on YouTube about Quick Mask and this guy was saying after you make a selection and before going into refine you can do a quick Mask to check any areas that have not been masked, left out, first make the initial selection, then make the correction in quick Mask and then go to refine and make refinements by going into refine. My question is how is this useful ? is this recommended ? What are the advantages of use a quick Mask when anyways I am going to go into refine and I am gonna check there for areas that have been left and not been masked properly and i can correct my selection there, but how is this going extra step of going into quick Mask gonna help ? Before going into refine ? What are your thoughts on this ?

  16. Affinity Photo manipulation using threshold to create a painterly portrait. In a previous tutorial (#35 Power tools) I showed how to place color behind black using threshold and erase white paper. I recently saw an old Photoshop tutorial that shows the opposite effect and so I recreated this photo manipulation of a painterly portrait in Affinity Photo. https://youtu.be/eKHtNhcE6pI #madeinaffinity #affinityphoto #affinityserif #tutorial #photomanipulation #graphicdesign #affinity #digitallyfearless #AffinityiPad #iPad #erasewhitepaper #clipping
  17. Is there a way to reduce the colour saturation of all darker parts of an image while maintaining the colour saturation of all brighter parts of the image? Thanks in advance, Jim

  20. Hi guys, here's a new video about how to add a new font into Windows 10 so you can use it in any of Affinity software, and not just that, I'm also gonna show you where is the place to find any free fonts and icons for any of your projects. I hope you enjoy this video, thank you!
  21. is there any issue with inferring a LUT in a full ROMM RGB environment? It looked very off (just overall bad quality) when I did so, but when I converted everything to sRGB everything looked perfect. What are your experiences with this? is there a recommended color space or did I just do something wrong somewhere? (I had original files and AFP files so I knew how it's supposed to look)
  22. Hello I would like to propose a feature that would allow the user to switch between the orginal and the current adjustment of raw image in a faster way. I am aware of the syncing feature but there are times when it just takes a lot of steps to just view the orginal especially if you accidentaly synced the wrong adjustment. This new toggle button feature would just allow a quick way to switch from orginal. In a simple way, this is like a toggle button that disables all the effects/adjustments including the overlays.
  23. Progressive Broadcast Hire commissioned me to do a full-page ad in the Scottish Bafta 2021 Awards programme. The image is from their newly installed lens test room. The primary purpose of the ad was to celebrate the talent in Scottish film and TV and congratulate the evening's nominees. Then suggest how Progressive can help them achieve even better results.
  24. I think I ask this question every year and I don't give up hope. Since the beginning of Affinity programs there is a desire for a tidy user interface. Arranging palettes / windows. And exactly since then, it still doesn't work. Combine palettes in a user friendly block, move them together and dock them to the main window accordingly .... ? No way. How can you help the Affinity team with this? With examples? They should know them, right? Since I am again lost in the maze of palettes and have lost so much time, I will write my document (in publisher) using the Office functions of Google. Almost a blessing Stay safe!
