Here's a list of some of the bugs which have been fixed in beta build 2.4.0.2222, since 2.3.1 (2217) Please reply in this forum only to comment on any fixes which are in this list (in particular to let us know if you notice that something we say is fixed isn't!) To report any new bugs please do that against the relevant new feature post, or if unrelated to new functionality in the Other New Bugs and Issues in the Betas forum. (A) Bug fixes which affected all platforms SVG crashing app when Opening/Placing [AF-286] Deleting a sync'd subcategory will move assets to an uncategorised subcategory on a different machine Raw file renders some files with a purple cast [AF-1571, AF-1593] Some ASE palette files fail to import correctly, no name or colours. The bug fixes are organised by operating system. (A) Bug fixes which affected all platforms Add Boolean operation slowdown/hang system. Force quit needed to close Affinity. Add Boolean operation with rotated object fails to produce correct result Add operation can make other shape disappear Boolean Add and Divide Operation fails on a flipped shape Boolean Add can create duplicate nodes in the same spot Boolean Add doesn't combine overlapping paths with multiple objects selected. So, I was using some raster brushes in the pixel Persona in Affinity Designer. I used brush 1, set the size and flow and so on, painted some stuff, and then switched to brush 2. Again I changed the size, opacity etc. and painted with brush 2. When I now switched to brush 1 again, my previous settings got overwritten by the default settings of the brush. So the size and everything else was back to how the brush was when I first used it. So, is there any way to prevent this? For example, in Procreate the brushes that I use keep the setting that I have set (size, opacity), if I recall correctly, not only in the current document, but even App-wide. It would be great if the Designer app remembers how I have set the brush, at least for the document I'm working on. It's really annying to be forced to set the brush size again every time I switch a brush. Or am I missing something? Some additional info: The brushes are third party brushes I bought. I'm working on an M1 Ipad Pro, everything is up to date and the version of Affinity Deisgner is of course the newest (2.3.0.2165)

Dear all, hadn't use v2 in a while but tried to do it today and I can't see any brush on the panel. For what I have found in this forum it seems the desktop Affinity has this issue (but I don't experience it). But in my iPad I can't see any brush. Please help. Thank you.

On the desktop version of Designer you can both EDIT a brush and right-click to rename/move a brush (when in designer persona and in the brushes panel) in order to easily edit, move (and re-name) individual brushes to a category of your choice. How do you move, edit and re-name an individual brush on the ipad version? (like the desktop version and a right-click in the brushes panel) The only way to even edit them individually in the ipad version appears to be in the top menu bar when the vector brush is selected (as opposed to the desktop version and simply double clicking a brush in the brushes panel). ...... where you are then given an option to 'save' it which automatically makes a no-named new version of the edited brush and places it in the same category ....as opposed to the desktop version where an edited brush can be 'duplicated' instead.... where the duplicate is then also copied (also with no-name) to the same category BUT where you can at least then easily re-name and move it with a right click in the brushes panel. The ipad/desktop versions should BOTH probably have a 'save as' rather than (a different functioning) 'duplicate' or 'save' options.....where you are perhaps then prompted to name your brush and choose a brush category. (The ipad version should also have the ability to rename an existing or copied brush). I'm often making TWO versions of many of my brushes (one with size variance turned up to 100% and one at 0%) in order to simply avoid issues with the stroke pressure curve graphs being unable to be edited later if using a non size-variance enabled brush......as the variable stroke curve/graph appears to be linked to both the initial drawing pressure when first creating strokes AND the internal setting for each brush....... I originally thought this was a bug but it was solvable with two versions of each brush....it is just MUCH more frustrating on the ipad with the different 'saving'/'duplicate' conventions and inability to edit (or re-name) brushes within the brushes panel on the ipad. EDIT: The desktop version has a brush properties 'properties' tab/button next to the pressure curve graph....the ipad should really have this too for when you want to easily edit the brush on an individual and selected existing stroke. It is also really annoying that the ipad help documentation in the app if often for the desktop version......if these two versions (desktop/ipad) are going to be different in so far as how you access the same (but different operating) options/functions between platforms then they should really have TWO different manuals.....writing these manuals FIRST and before release would also help Serif in getting ahead of the various release discrepancies when beta testing as there are often features actually forgotten about between the two at release..... like for instance the reverse path (which was missed but now added) and the above-mentioned difference in stoke editing...... to get around the stroke variable-width graph editor being tied to pen pressure and individual brush size-variance settings. Sorry for the bitch, the software is really good, the discrepancies (and missing stuff) is just REALLY frustrating!

Hi all! So I'm playing with Affinity 2 on my iPad and want to customize the brushes that I have in a specific category. Long pressing doesn't seem to give me the brush context popup like Affinity 1 did, so I'm wondering if I'm missing something for deleting some of my test brushes. Thanks!

I am having a major issue in that all of my raster brushes in photo v2 and designer v2 have disappeared and no raster brushes show. Even in my account, the brushes I installed show I need to download and install even though I installed them yesterday. None of my manually installed like Frankentoon texture, pattern and nature brushes, no brushes at all appear and importing brushes again do not appear. Extremely frustrated. All my brushes still show up fine in my V1 apps. The vector brushes are all still appearing in the v2 apps, but no raster brushes. Shutting apps down, reimporting, shutting iPad down did not help at all. This problem is just on the iPad versions. I have no way to do any pixel brush work in the v2 apps at this time! The one time I tried importing raster brushes, the photo v2 app crashed, otherwise just doesn’t seem to do anything and I get an empty brush list. I am on iPad Pro 12.9, iPadOS 16.1 and I have both v1 and v2 affinity apps.

Hi Serif team, Hi Everybody, I love Designer and all Affinity softs that are in my opinion a game changer in many aspects. CMYK on iPad ! A dream for me... But I think some few things will make Designer much more convenient for professional work. I used Adobe softwares during 20 years and I am working almost each day mainly on my Affinity softwares for more than 5 years now, on Mac and most of the time on my iPad for drawing purposes. I have to say that for professional use, many ergonomic things could be improved. And as an illustration professional, the lack of a simple vector eraser is a real nightmare. I couldn't imagine that such a basic feature would missing when I bought Affinity 1.5... I wait since and many things have been improved but I still need other apps like Illustrator because of a few things really needed. I bought Affinity 2.0 suite to support Serif for its development but I am tired to wait years for some basic evolution. Yes I would like advanced features in AD but first the basics, such as a vector eraser that does exist in many vector apps like Illustrator, Inkscape, Amadine or Vectornator.... Please Affinity, listen to that ! Do not wait the 3.0 version… After many updates the lack of this kind of functionality is a real frustration and still avoid the increase of productivity. We are now talking about AI everywhere and we still wait for basics features such like a vector eraser, this is really difficult to understand. There are other features that would be useful for my dreamwork like gradient mesh, a frame template tool to make comics pages and balloons with text and styles also for comics (like in CSP), vector halftones and Bitmap mode with halftones conversion (like in Photoshop) and halftones layers… And still ergonomic modifications on iPad and Mac to spend less of "clics" to do things. Time is so important for pros. But all of that won't be totally efficient without a… simple yet good vector eraser ! A basic one would be obviously appreciate but an Eraser being able to erase with all vector brushes and with free shapes what's underneath and being able as an option to erase intersections (like in the video above) would be so useful ! I’m new to the ipad version of affinity Designer 2, I’ve only used V1 for Mac. So I’m still getting used to where everything is. Today when editing a brush in the pixel persona, I noticed that I can change the tool type, and this included tools that were not visible in the UI, e.g median, clone, paint mixer etc. What I don’t understand is why these tools are not accessible through the UI toolbar? I feel like I’m going crazy because I can’t find any posts mentioning them for Affinity Designer, only for Photo, and they’re not in any of the guides. I’ve found that the smudge tool doesn’t work correctly, it pulls random colours and looks very blocky and unnatural. However, the paint mixer and median tools have done the job and I will probably use them instead, but I don’t want to have to edit a brush every single time. It seems so odd to hide these tools like this and I’m not sure if I’m just missing something really obvious 😅 but I’ve spent hours looking. Is there a way to manually add them to the UI so I don’t have to keep editing brushes every time I want to use one? Thanks!

Hi, I agree, missing possibility to edit brushes or even just rename them is frustrating. Especially since this was possible in the previous version on iPad, you could click&hold on the brush and your got the context menu to edit, rename, move brush etc. I love the first version of affinity designer on the iPad but in general I feel like the second version is a step back at least on the iPad in some areas. Also UI looked much better and modern in the previous version and it was easier to navigate… I wanted to purchase the new version, but I’m hesitating now… which is a pitty because I’m a fan…

Dear Affinity team, in the Pixel Persona the Brushes are empty or missing. I can paint with only one brush and it is possible to change the painting colour. The brush is not shown in the brush panel / menu. I have deleted the app for the iPad twice and tried a reset to the brushes, too. Unfortunately the problem is still there. In the designer persona I find different brushes to choose. The problem is only in the pixel persona. thank you very much

Hi! Just found out that some custom brushes are missign on the iPad version of both, Photo and Designer. For example, this is how a custom set looks in Affinity Photo on a Mac. Nothing wrong here: And this is how the same set looks in Affinity Photo V2 on the iPad (same happens to Designer): At the beginning I though this was only affecting dual brushes, but nope, it happens randomly without a clear pattern, at least for me. And, this is not only a visual thing, missing brushes aren't displayed correclty while painting, either they won't paint anything at all. I'm not sure if the developers are aware of this issue already, but I wanted to post it here for the record. Thanks, Enrique

Can a Serif engineer please just check that in pixel persona in Affinity Designer for iPad that the “Basic” brush set is available? This is after a question on the Affinity Photo and Designer for iPad Facebook group from a member who reported they were missing which does appear to be the case. I know on desktop they are available in both vector and pixel persona but on the iPad I think might have been forgotten on the iPad build. As a work around for those that have AP and AD, exporting the Basic brush set from AP and importing into AD pixel persona corrects the oversight.

Hi, just had an issue with Affinity Designer for iPad. I created a folder for the brushes being used on a project but when duplicating a brush to add to this folder the application crashed. I had to restart the app and noticed all the imported brushes have gone and now left with the system brushes only… had a scan on the forums and noticed a few others have had a similar issue but couldn’t find if there was a solution. Also restarted the iPad but no joy. thanks D

Absolutely agree. And these brushes should be divided CLEARLY and each with its named category "vector brushes" and "bitmap brushes". That brushes are drawn on a vector path is not enough to give it the name vector brush. It is directly misleading marketing. Moreover, as a customer you cannot even see which brush is actually vector in the list of brushes. But it seems to be only one. Repeat, one simple real vector brush. The big disappointment of Affinity Designer on iPad and desktop is that the program offers almost no vector features. And clearly not designed as a professional vector design program. It seems more like Designer is pieced together from components of Publisher and Photo - and little extra. That doesn't give much hope for the future. Come out of the closet as a drawing program for artists (in your marketing) - or make sure the missing vector features are delivered in a steady stream, is my advice. We rarely give major disappointments or deviations from marketing two chances. The history is that in almost all cases the miracles do not occur. Fool me once... /Eddie

I can’t seem to sort my macros and brushes library on iPad, I would like to put some categories under other categories in a series that is logic to me. Or am I missing something? Is it only possible on desktop version?

So one of my favourite little additions to v2 is the tiny brush icon in the layers palette that contains a history of all brushes used on that layer. Unfortunately, it seems this feature is only supported on desktop, and while I do have a tablet for my desktop, I much prefer drawing on my iPad. Any chance I'm missing something, and if not, is there any chance that magic, tiny brush history feature will make it to the iPad in a coming release?
