This appears to be a consequence of file handling changes we made on Windows in regards to holding open locked file handles - I'm logging it with our developers for further investigation but it's unclear if this can be resolved at this time.
As I understand it the aforementioned changes prevent/fix larger issues from occurring when moving/deleting files that were still open in the app.
I hope this clears things up!

Problem has been solved by uninstalling all versions USING THE WINDOWS UNINSTALLER and then reinstalling Version 2 (MSIX) . Do note that the installation requires updated Microsoft Visual C++ files (image included). If you are still having issues download and install the MSIX Trouble shooter and follow the instructions. It will analyze the MSIX, will determine dependencies (how I found I  did not have the  required C++ files installed) and will make the process simple and easy

Note the version of the MICROSOFT VISUAL C++ files required for the MSIX Affinity software to install properly.
    to recap:
Uninstall all versions but use the Windows 10 uninstall.
run the MSIX trouble shooter with Administrator rights and follow the instructions. It will determine if you need any dependencies isntalled.
Install the Microsoft Visual C++ packages if needed.
    reboot
run MSIX troubleshooter again and let it install the Affinity V2 MSIX file
This  should solve any problems and restore viewing the thumbnails (do not forget to set that in Affinity preferences (save thumbnail with  file MUST be checked)
Make sure your Folder View also allows use of the thumbnails

Then the IT department of the parent company says no. They do upgrades across tens of thousands of machines across the world. If something goes wrong, people can literally die in our industry. They're not going to care that some users can't use this software. The software works on those versions of Windows, it's just the installer that doesn't. It was not a smart decision for Affinity to exclude users like this over an installer...

Ok, yes I'm fully aware this has been asked for, but please read on. I'm quite new to Affinity products and I absolutely love the software. It is important to note that while I do some photo editing and more compositing, I am primarily a digital painter. I was very surprised to discover that AP and AD has no pressure sensitivity control for Opacity. Yes, there is for Flow, but that really is only effective if one is using brushes whose spacing is not set to 1%. I know some have equated Accumulation to opacity but that operates completely differently to either Flow or Opacity. As you know, with Flow, opaqueness increases each time you brush over the same area. You do not need to pick up the pen and reapply it to increase the opaqueness of a stroke. With Spacing set to 1% (or close to it), one is, in effect, brushing over the same area many times over by even moving the brush a millimetre. As a result, even with very low flow rates with very low spacing, you essentially get a fully opaque stroke. With pressure sensitive opacity control, unless you pick up the pen then reapply it over the previous stroke, your opacity remains at what you set it at, or with how hard you press your stylus down, regardless of the spacing. For someone like me (and many, many other digital artists I know) who often use round brushes with spacing set to 1% (or very close to that), a pressure sensitive opacity control is the most reliable control we have over the opaqueness of the brush stroke while stroking continuously. Without this, our expensive tablets that excel in pressure sensitivity functions lose a significant amount of their usefulness.
Anyway, I just wanted to reiterate the need for such a control, and the reason why for that need. This is the only professional level drawing package that I am aware of that does not have such a feature, and is one I (and numerous others from what I can gather) consider critical. Thank you very much for taking the time to read this.

Yeah, the ellipse tool can stay with its imperfections - it is intentionally not called a circle tool.
Simply adding a new circle tools (based on 12 instead of 4 nodes) will solve the problem several users raised.

You may have some inside information, denied to the rest of us. But if someone wants to start using the Affinity apps now, rather than waiting for an unspecified time, for the next version, I would have thought they would prefer to pay 50%, rather than full price! 😁
You could wait forever, if you never buy anything because you're waiting for a newer/better version to become available! 😉

This offer goes out to everyone who has not unsubscribed from our marketing offers, and is here to do 2 things:
Encourage you to try the software that you have not yet bought, or encourage those around you to do so for 90 days. Without letting you know it was available you would not know to tell your friends. Encourage the purchase at a discount of something that you have not yet bought, for example the iPad versions (Serif cannot tell if you have purchased Affinity software from the Mac App Store or iPad store by looking at your Serif Account, as that sale is Apple's data and we cannot see it)

So will all loyal customers -  been with Serif since PagePlus Release 1 in 1990 - be getting a refund? I await Affinity's generosity!
