  1. Percentage is there. Whatever units you are using, just type say 80% in width or height input field, hit the tab (or just hit Resize button to close the dialog) and you get the proper value.
  2. Implementing this would take approx. 3 hours if the document object model is done correctly. Implementing an Arboard system is a bit more complex. You're comparing apples and oranges there.
  3. I believe the default settings has changed for 1.7.x branch - you have to hit Shift+key to cycle through groups. I'm not about to reset all my tools settings to check out what the default settings actually is, but you can check out / adjust this in Preferences > Tools > Use shift key to cycle tool groups
  4. I believe that all tools and modifiers shoud behave the same way. That's what's called consistency. Mate, a professional app is never this buggy. I still say it's a public paid beta version of a semi-professional toolset, actually. With so many bugs around the whole Affinity Suite, you can't really depend on it, since in a professional workflow, you don't have time to constantly check what went wrong or use dozens of workarounds. Seen the Expand Stroke (in Designer) output in smaller sizes. Is that professional? It goes that way for many versions now. The app must do what it's supposed to do. Always. Without compromises. Otherwise you can't talk about an professional app. In this case, it's just a marketing babble.
  5. I also miss those basic features, but you can do the same quite easily with the Transform Studio Panel. 1. Just draw a rectangle manually by mouse, then adjust its properties in the Transform panel at the bottom of the Right Studio Panel. 2. Move the rectangle again with the Transform Studio
  6. The language I use the most uses 28 accented characters (Latin Extended-A unicode) and all works for me well on both Mac and Windows (no such characters being added before nor after such letter when typing with its own keyboard layout all the accented characters do have their own keys though, I'm not using the extended character input method on Mac, would be slowing me down). Maybe it's an issue with the actual fonts? Or maybe some Spell Checking / Replace Characters feature issue? Try turning Spell Checking and Text Replacing off and change the fonts to some default, system ones, just to check out if the issue still occurs.
  7. Hi @CalebK This is how I do it: Example 1: Text Alignment / Center icon (Designer) Example 1: Text Alignment / Center icon (Publisher) Example 2: Using the Glyph Browser Studio Panel (Designer) Example 2: Using the Glyph Browser Studio Panel (Publisher)
  8. Howdy @Hstrutz, welcome to the forums Designer doesn't have such a feature. Just fyi, it's been requested for 5 years already
  9. I didn't notice, thank you @A_B_C It's Anyway, it still doesn't change anything about ux inconsistency in its default behavior.
  10. You didn't get my point. Resizing without any modifiers sometimes resize stuff keeping aspect ratio, while elsewhere within the same app doesn't. Depends contextually on an object you want to resize. That's deffinitely an inconsistency.
  11. I completely agree (and can't add likes nor thanks anymore since I've reached my daily quota )... Except for adding missing basic features in Designer (select by..., warping, envelope disort, global layers system...) I really believe that Serif would benefit from employing an UX expert. One little example - modifiers. Texts keep aspect ratio on mouse resize, while other objects need Shift modifiers. Once you group texts together, you have to also use a Shift modifier to keep the aspect ratio while resizing. And that's just one of the examples of ux inconsitencies in Affinity... Also, clicking... There's a bit too much clicking everywhere around Affinity apps. Plenty of stuff could be easily done via keyboard, but you just can't (ie inability to move a crop selection via keyboard arrows... It moves currently selected layer instead! You just have to use the mouse to refine the crop selection.) Atm, Affinity products are imo not suitable for any power users since they're slowing them down a bit too much
  12. For OSX, easiest way to batch rename files is to use standard finder rename... Images courtesy of OSX Daily You can use the Format dropdown menu item to customize the output. For even advanced renaming, you can use this Automator Tool How-To from OSX Daily:
  13. The best on Windows is imo the Multi-Rename Tool in Total Commander. Check it out... Images courtesy of HowToGeek
  14. I never mentioned anything about resemblence to the old Type 1 PostScript fonts. Just convert an OpenType font with TrueType outlines to curves in any vector editor. Do the same with the same font that's distributed with PostScript outlines. Compare the output (amount of points, differences in curves). That was my point - you can see the difference when you want to plot or CNC the TrueType outlines. Do the same with PostScript outlines of any chosen font. First one will take 3 times more time to finish than the 1st one, yet they are the same fonts from the same distributor. I had no other points. That's the reason why I say that the true OpenType font is the one with PostScript outlines. Just my 2 cents.
  15. Here you go, as a sample, this font might be enough to test the features https://pinspiry.com/10-latest-modern-script-fonts-free-for-personal-use/#download (Harland or Hypathia font ie)
  16. Congrats to you too. It was your post that started this further debate
  17. Alfred. Read OP's question. Again, I must insist that Dwright's answer: was completely correct and the point about PostScript is irrelevant. You argued that DWright's answer was misleading: That is imo wrong. See the highlighted part of your own quote. The rest of the debate is irrelevant to OP's post and can be considered Thread Hijacking. Anyway, here is some interesting stuff from FontLab manual, no further discussion is imo necessary:
  18. DWright's point was that TTF font's don't allow stylistic features (or other OpenType features), while OpenType fonts do. Mentioning PostScript was completely irrelevant.
  19. DWright's answer was correct. He states (and I quote) He doesn't argue that OTF is ONLY PostScript font at all. Edit: Anyway, DWright was correct, TTF fonts don't support any OpenType features anyway. His point was correct. Never mind. [drops the mic]
  20. Yes. TTF outlines are supported, but not recommended. Just see FontLab user manual or Adobe Font Guidelines. People do silly things, indeed - like using a software without reading its manuals first. Then they generate wrong results and come back to forums or post questions, that are answered in user manuals, to reddit. True OTF font is a font with PostScript outlines. OTF font containing TrueType outlines is just a fallback. Works but only creates issues.
  21. You are wrong. OTF = Fonts with PostScript outlines. TTF = TrueType fonts ...some people rename .ttf fonts to .otf and it mostly works, but the base square size in units is different and the type of curves also. Edit: There is, of course, plenty of other differences, like Open Type features, compression etc., but if font contains True Type curves, it should not be generated as .otf, but a .ttf - just for sanity purposes.
  22. Indeed. But a professional software should be professionally tested before official releases are pushed to the public. And open forums are for open discussion, even one that you (or forum owner) might not like... So many bugs isn't a good sign. And ignoring long standing issues while constantly pushing new features (with more bugs) isn't a good thing either. Fixing bugs should be major priority, before adding new features. Same goes with long requested features and roadmap features. It really feels that agile releasing scheme isn't a good way for a professional graphic design suite. Just my humble opinion. BTW I'm quite happy with Studio Link and don't have any issues with lack of some features that I can do easily via the "old" workflow (opening files in the other editor and replacing the links in Publisher later). For me, the basic set of features is currently enough. All the apps are quite good for their price, I have to admit. But they still lack some polishing, sadly. Lack of basic features (Envelope Disort, Select by..., buggy Expand Stroke feature, missing Offset Path feature...) in Designer is what really grinds my gears though.
  23. If you got obtrusive notifications set up in your e-mail client, just disable them while recording. Easier than you'd think Or just close the mail client completely while you're recording. Maybe setup your phone so it can catch new mails during recording? Possibilities are limitless, you just have to try
